I am working on my map, and I have been forced to go back to the drawing board for my game concept. I have a number of origional ideas (3 big ones, few dozen small ones) that I have already implemented. But a) my map was EPIC, and had like 6000 doodads, also, the game play was slow paced and tedious (800+ creeps + complex threaded triggers). I drifted from my origional plan due to limitations in the engine (can't handle zillions of units at the same time), however, I will resurect them when i down size. Anyway, I'm contemplating changing the whole game from 8player ctf style game to something else. I wish to keep neutral hostile elements, but also to have opposing teams / ffa style game play that is relatively fast paced. The creep problem I have solved, and I have many of the systems in place to produce a functional map easily, but I am looking to produce something truly origional, and the game play style eludes me, mainly because I am unsure what sort of game I should make.. What are the preffered game styles here? |

Lots doodads isnt good for any map, first it will take forever to load, 2nd lots doodads in 1 area will cause lag... (same applies for units) I perfer 5v5 but thats just me... you can have hostile elements in it with 5v5 and 2 comp.. - ByTe.ME uswest |

Well, I know that now (doodads that is)... I know I must scale down, and that means changing my game play as well. I'm looking for opinions... once I know what kind of map ppl want, i'll think of something origional to do with it... All you people who look... vote too :) Cata |

I have around 8000 doodads in my Hero Arena. (Terrain made by Demanufacture)... Now, this is not going to cause any laggs because... Only about 100 are moving or flashing. Only trees are displayed a lot in a window, with the result of possible lagg, but then there's flowers and other smaller things which generaly leaves the computer free to count on without any lagg. It also has these doodads spread over the whole map basicly, and it's not any regular Hero Arena you might see... Regards Dead-Inside |

Ok, regardless of the design errors in my map (I think it was a combination of the triggers and the creep count). From the (somewhat small response), I am guessing that people would preffer a two teamed map.... I will start thinking of concepts (based on my origional map) that angle towards two teams. But I have no wish to create a AOS clone / evolution, and will be looking to do something totaly new. What about the possibility of one force? Allied vs... something (hoards of halitosis?)... Any thoughts?
