This is probably the standard n00b thread, and i apologise in advance :/ A serarch came up with nothing, but mabye i used the wrong terms :p Anyhow, i know a bit about audio etc, since i produce, but i've only just started having a go at voice acting. Basically, i was wondering what effects (compression/eq etc) are usually uised with voices. I assume that simply pitching down and eqing would get a demonic voice, but i really know nothing other than that. Doesn anyone with some expericnce have any tips for a n00b to vocals :bgrun: |

Well, it's a good start that you know the basic things. Just get CoolEdit, GoldWave or SoundForge and I think you'll understand it after messing about for a while. It's really really easy -- really, if *I* can do it, anybody can!! |

Check out my two tutorials here: http://www.samods.com/?cmd=category&cid=2 The first is about recording, with tips on what to do to clean up your voice at a basic level, and the second probably what you are after (Editing a voice to sound like certain 'creatures'). |

You're welcome. If you need any help getting to learn editing, ask here. Mac and myself are fairly competent. Say for example you really wanted a demon voice - we'd tell you something like: -110 pitch -Reverse the sound -Reverb: tight and close -Reverse it back -Same reverb again However, as any editor should know, the ACTING and sound itself is 100% critical foremost. You can't make a dull voice sound exciting. Editing only assists a good actor, it doesn't do the job for them. 8) |

I've been playing around and i've found demonic stuff sort of easy, just lower the pitch and it sounds ubber evil. Thanks for the advice/offer as well, i intend on sticking around, so i'll make sure i do talk to you for an opinion etc :D |

Try adding a light chorus and definitely some reverbs to the demon voices! Works wonders! |

Yeah i've been using some light reverb, too much sends it too 'wishy washy'. I'll try some chorus/light flanger, thanks for the tip :p |
