I have finally come up with what I think is a working solution for the items that increase range. It uses triggers and the set current research level function. Events Unit - A unit Acquires an item Conditions (Item-type of (Item being manipulated)) Equal to Arena Arrows Actions Player - Set the current research level of Arena Arrows Upgrade to 1 for (Owner of (Triggering unit)) This works because I only set the units that I want to have that bonus to use that upgrade, and a person can only have one those type at once (though they can have multiple normal units). The problem with this is, if they drop the item I cant reset their tech level, using the same function only changing the 1 to 0. Is it possible with some other function that I havent found yet to reduce a persons tech level? |

why dont u just make a item like "sniper gun" and use the reserch thing use long rifles! or make it an ability... and apply it to the "sniper gun" item so then it will add 200 range and remove 200 range when u drop it... if u want me to explain more just ask em to |

Longrifles isnt an ability, it is an upgrade. I was under the impression that upgrades cannot be placed on items. I gathered from other people asking how to place range bonuses on items on these forums that it wasnt possbile. Am I wrong? Please do explain. |

Guest | You can upgrade through triggers but not downgrade. This has been a problem for a long time and there is really no way around it. To get the effect you want use triggers to adjust the units stats so he can shoot farther and what not... Now i'm not sure what unit stats your allowed to change because i don't have worldeditor open but that would be your best bet. On a side note i think there is an auctual ability for an item that increases your range.... IE: i've seen it in a lot of sniper maps... |

The one they use in sniper maps is probably an orb like item that enables attack 2 which has a higher attack range. I guess I could do that, but there are 3 classes of quality in the item I have made, so using an orb wont work. Guess Im gonna have to scrap this idea, since I didnt find a function to adjust a unit's range in triggers |

Guest | Yea i mean there are ways to do it but its just hard and messy... I might be able to make it for you if you gave me more details and your map to do the triggers on. Email is [email protected] |
