Magic
Hi there.
I'm Magic (and Maglok now to), moderator of this area of the forum. I'm creating this thread to help the forum avoid having the same questions asked and for people to get help quicker.

Frequently Asked Questions:
1) Where can I get help or links for voice acting?
2) How do I start out at voice acting?
3) Where can I get work for voice acting?
4) How do I convert wav's to mp3's?

1) Where can I get help or links for voice acting?
Feel free to post any queries or anything related to voice acting and editing here on this forum, or over on the SA.
Alternatively, try doing a google search.

2) How do I start out at voice acting?
I highly recommend this tutorial of mine. It covers the exact equipment you need and recording your voice at a basic level, with images and written in fairly simple English. Also, if you're wanting to get into sound editing, I created this tutorial too, mainly covering Cool Edit 2000 and Sound Forge. Another good link for the more advanced people is: http://sounds.gamedesign.net/tips.shtml

3) Where can I get work for voice acting?
For forums: check out either this forum or the Team Gathering (Though be warned of people wanting VA's before their project is complete), the SAVAGE forum (You don't have to be a member of the Guild) or search on google. Alternatively, you can join SAVAGE, who regularly receieve requests for mod work, or JesseCox's group of actors.

5) How do I convert wav's to mp3's?
See this tutorial of mine.

Edit: Added another tutorial link 20th December 2004

====================================================

If you're looking for VA's for your project, campaign or mod - the whole purpose of this thread is to help you find them. However, please note that this specific thread is ONLY for VA's to display their profiles: Do NOT reply to this thread if you are requesting help - do a new topic instead.
If you would like to ask a VA to voiceact for you, then PM or email the individual actors, or start a new thread with a list of characters.

Readme:
1) MAKE SURE you have a reason to get voice actors - i.e. your project is very nearly or fully complete. Do NOT ask for actors if you do not need them yet.
2) Know what you want. When you come round to listing the voices you are after, describe them as much as possible, so people can work out if they are looking to voice them.
3) Be professional. Obviously, not extremely ('Dear sir, please blah blah blah. Sincerely, So and so') - just be clear and polite so people know you're worth dealing with.
'pmg, i nEEds aCtorz 4 my campane, plz voiCE the NE hero 4 me.' will get you absolutely nowhere!

Site links:
All of these have actors and resources for VA'ing. Be sure to check them out!
-SAVAGE (The Star Alliance Voice Actors Guild Extreme - where you can request our support, or just ask on the forum)
-http://www.jessecox.com/ (Jesse Cox's website - has several actors)

Voice actors who are looking for work can reply to this thread with a zipfile containing several samples of their voice (Preferably as MP3's), either attached or as a link.

Great sample sounds!!:D . The 2 headed orc sample was a worry, couldn't quite hear the "I'm with stupid" line too well. Try holding the mike at the side of your mouth to stop your breath from hitting the mike. Also, watch the emphasis on your words, you were pushing the alternate words too hard and it was hard to hear. I liked the gruffness of the voice, to make the 2 headed orc.

Hello, I have no technical training or vocal instruction, but I do have a pretty good speaking voice that I hope can be used in such a medium as this. I'll attach samples a bit later, when I have work that I'm proud of :p but if you'd like I can send a quick sample of my speaking voice from previous jobs. AIM me at Maxvlad

just so you know, it's a deep resenant voice (naturally) though I'm not good with accents just yet . . ..

ok .. you can find my voice here . . . I know, it's kind of a lame intro . . but it's what I got, so DEAL WITH IT! :p hehehe

Heres 2 samples the first is the best qoute from war1. Said in different ways. The 2nd is some goblin clickers Ive made to the coming Mind craft campaign from war3.com.
and yeah I don't use some functions on with of them ... except noicegate, but I'm learning so it wil get better. I also did some voices for 2 other campaigns that never was released due to the lack of the 3d dudes.
