I'm not sure if this is a problem, but when I open a new map, the data are all from versin 1.07 (TFT). I've patched the game to 1.12 but it seems none of the 1.12 data has been incorporated into the editor. Does anyone else experience this as well? |

Well... Hmmmm and shucks-howdy... I can think of two things off the bat that might be making this happen: 1) Somewhere, somehow, you've got the 1.07 data taking precedence over the new data. Have you made WC3 work such that it looks in local directories for data? (I forget the technical term for this.) And if so, could you have some files with 1.07 data in there? Likewise, could 1.07 data be embedded somewhere that it's getting loaded instead of the patch data? 2) You're not making a melee map. It is a Blizzard-confirmed fact that balancing changes only affect melee maps so as to not mess up non-melee maps that are relying on the units having certain stats and such. (Thus also your map's balance cannot get thrown off by Blizzard changes.) In other words, it may be you're supposed to be getting old data. If that's not it, I'm not sure; what tipped you off that it's not 1.12 data anyway? |

I know it's 1.07 since in that version, a lot of unit snad ungrades cost a lot more in lumber than gold. Plus, TFT campaign is in version 1.07 right? I remember the stats for upgrades and units for all races (except orcs), so I know it's 1.07 data. As for my map, I used a multiplayer map that came with the game and made it non melee by adding triggers, but I haven't done anything to the unit stats and upgrades. I noticed the editor defaults at 1.07. Try opening the editor and loading a new empty map. Now check the values in the object window. Check unit and upgrades stats. They match 1.07 values. Any proof of this is in the patch.txt file. Open it and you'll see the fixes in 1.12 which are not in the editor. Does anyone know how to fix this problem, and does anyone share my problems? |

Of course. Silly me. But anyway, there you have it: In a melee map you won't be placing units or editing them, else it wouldn't be straight map-and-starting-positions-only melee anymore, so my guess is Blizzard makes WE list the old values for units since those are what will be used if you bother with them anyway in WE. In short, what you have isn't really a problem per se, at least not in the sense that it's an accident. Now whether you agree with Blizzard's decision to "freeze" non-melee maps at the old version to avoid breaking compatability is another matter. As you have pointed out, the official campaign never changes its stats even through patches because those maps fall under these same rules: They're not "melee" maps (melee being defined in WE's terms: A map with basically terrain, doodads, starting positions, and not much else.) so they stick with the old data, and the same goes for your non-melee maps. Or maybe you already get that, I wasn't sure from your reply. Sorry if I'm repeating what you know. Anyway, first way I could think of would be to grab the patch data (SLKs) from the MPQ and embed it in your map. Of course, that raises that little "your map must be the first one loaded" thing and of course now your map's just stuck at 1.12 instead of 1.07, but that's my first idea. |
