Okie guys, Bludragn showed me how to do this and I think its something more people should know how to do. Anyhow, I will show you how to change the shards effect on "Blizzard". First you will need WinMPQ which can be gotten at: http://shadowflare.ancillaediting.net/ Second Excel or any other program like it. Third WarCraft 3's Map Editor First open up WinMPQ, once here you will need to click "open" and search for your Warcraft 3 folder. Once inside the folder you need to locate the file "War3Patch.mpq" (for future ref all 4 of the files there (the .mpq ones) have diffrent copys of the same files, so if one doesnt have it go to the next one but go in this order War3Patch.mpq / War3Local.mpq / War3x.mpq / War3.mpq doing this will make sure you have the latest file, otherwise the editor will crash.) Once you have the War3Patch.mpq file open you will need to locate the "Units\AbilityData.slk", click to highlight this file then click extract. Now you will have to locate your WC3 folder again but dont put it in any folder jsut open your WC3 folder and click "Ok" because all the files you extract naturaly save to whatever folder you pick \units. So if you pick your WC3 folder it will automaticly save to C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\Units which is where it should be. Now go back to WinMPQ and search for a file called "Units\HumanAbilityFunc.txt" which for me wasnt till I got to the "War3x.mpq" but again check in the order above for the lates one. Extract that file to the same folder as the other file. Once you have both files there we can begin editing. Open up you "Units\HumanAbilityFunc.txt" file in notepad and seach for where you find the following lines: // Blizzard [AHbz] Art=ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTNBlizzard.blp Researchart=ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTNBlizzard.blp Buttonpos=0,2 Researchbuttonpos=0,0 Casterart= Order=blizzard [BHbd] Buffart=ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTNBlizzard.blp Targetart=Abilities\Spells\Other\FrostDamage\FrostDamage.mdl [XHbz] Effectart=Abilities\Spells\Human\Blizzard\BlizzardTarget.mdl Effectsoundlooped=BlizzardLoop Effectsound=BlizzardWave // Summon Water Elemental You now need to fine the code for this spell which is [XHbz] make sure its the same for you though. Now leave that alone and go open the AbilityData.slk file in Excel. The Second Row (up and down) should say "AHbz" for Column 1 and 2 (left and right) "Arch Mage - Blizzard" under Column 3 etc etc. Now you want to CLICK AND HOLD on the first box in Column 1 Row 2 and go all the way right untill you reach column 9 which should say "human" once its all highlighted right click and hit copy. Go to the VERY bottem of the list now till u seem empty slots which for me was row 772 and past what you copyed. Now we need to edit the first 2 columns that have AHbz and put the code we got above which for my case was XEsf. Rember replace both colums 1 and 2 with this, then save the file. Now for the actual changeing of the graphics. Open up WarCraft 3 Map Editor and go to "Object Editor" then the "Ability" tab and click human. By default the Units area drops down, jsut minimize it or just scroll down to where it says here (still under human), expand this and at the bottem of that list you will now have a "Unknown [XHbz]" click on this one and now you can edit the spell blizzard by changeing the "Art - Effect" to whatever you want. NOTE: This can be done to many spells but not all. You can try doing it with whatever spells you want but this one works for sure :). Also as long as you have the AbilityData.slk in that folder there ANY MAP you save will now have this effect changed for blizzard so be careful and remove the file from that folder before saving any map you dont want that changed in. I Hope this helps :ggani: |
