I have just begun learning modelling. I use GMax and are reading through the tutorials that came with it. I have one (silly) question. When I'm in the help files, I'm not allowed to go back to GMax unless I minimize the help files. This may not sound so serious, but it is very annoying. is there a solution to this? Ichecked thorugh the preferances but didn't find anything that could disable this... |

I dont know if this will help but you can just use Alt + Tab? |

Nope, didn't work. GMax and the help files are (somehow) treated as 1 program. |

Oh, that sucks. I just got gmax this morning though so I'll try to find a solution for you. Edit: I just tryed to open the help files and none of them opened. but maybe you could search for gmax then find its prgram folder and open it through that. |

Another problem. I followed nicolis tutorial on modelling. I finally ended up with the (simple) model that had the floating animation. However, when i try to run the export script I get this error: -- Compile error: No outer local variable references permitted here: add_anim_rollout, In line: DestroyDialog add_anim_rollout I tried running it several times as suggested, but the error occurs all the time. Also, I couldn't find MDXMDL export from the dropdown menu either (it's empty), but perhaps that's cause the script run failed? |

Also, how do you do multiple animations in GMax? (stand, walk, die) Following the tutorial above, there is only 1 animation. And I haven't seen any options in GMax where yu can select different animations. |

to make sepeate animations, simply start at different keyframes, such as. Stand 0-150 Attack 200-300 Walk 400-600 then when you run dex it asks you where one aniamtion ends and the others begin. Just for kicks about your other problem, what version of 'dex are you using? |

ok. I don't know the version number (doesn't say in the read me) I used the MDXExport 3dsmax Script found in the DL section on this site. Just a few days ago, so it should be the latest version... |

the latest versions (the only ones with gmax support) have never been put in the downloads section of this site AFAIK. This is becasue the makers (Snips, Republicola, Jul) don't want it to be realeased to the mass public while it is still not 100%. Hop on IRC at Irc.wc3campaigns.com Channel #dex to get the latest version (1.085) |

Ok, I got it now. One (hopefully) final question. After printing the result to the listener window, I am unable to select all text in the window. The selection only goes over the first 10% or so. It is possible to copy the text part by part, but it's tedious. Has this happened to anyone else? |

PS: I managed to have the model show up in-game. Joy ^^. |

yes that happens to me all the time when i export models. i guese we just got to live with it. now what we need isd a working textporter so we can skin our models |

I downloaded one by kmk and it doesn't seem to run, is there a better/newer script? If so and it isn't available to dl, could someone email it to me (I don't have IRC and I really would prefer not to get any more programs cluttering up my machine than I have to)? I would appreciate it. [email protected] |

Not good. In my latest model I get an ''unknown property - X is undefined" error. I know that this is an unfinished script so I won't complain, but does anyone know what might cause this error? I haven't done anything extreme that I'm aware of. Simply placing blocks n spheres, then doing some vertex and face manipulations. I've been using groups, could that cause it? |

Never mind my last question. It was I who accidently placed some kind of object (a point or something, it had the 3 axis X, Y & Z). When I removed it it worked. Well, except that some parts of the model didn't get 'translated' (my buddy lost 1 eye in the process as well as his shoulders). Oh well... :/ |
