When I try to copy the 'mount Hippogryph' ability (in an attempt to make a 'Mount Wolf' and a 'Mount Horse' ability for which I would thus need two seperate abilities, but that's not too important at the moment). However when I do so, the 'data' fields are removed, thus meaning I CAN edit 'mount hippogryph itself, but I then end up with only one 'mount' ability, not the two I intended to make AND I loose access to 'mount hippogryph'. Now the questions I have are: Is this a bug or is it intentional. If it is something Blizzard did intentionally then why? And either way: is there a way to correct this/work around it? Note that I am VERY new to the practical aspect of WC3 map making so please talk to me like you would talk to a complete n00b when (and if) you explain. |

Nope that doesn't work the DATA fields still dissappear and thus the copied ability becomes useless... |

I have (just) tested it and it doesn't. It says IIRC 'Unable to find couple target', the 'couple target' is in the Data field... |

Look for the post about hero being able to build. It has to do with adding mount into the abilitydata.slk. I havn't done this yet just fyi, but I belive it will work because som1 got heroes to be able to build. So I am assuming the same applies. |

Ofcourse trying to figure this out would't be half this difficult if all those people who DO know how to edit abilties properly wouldn't 'protect' their maps ... I mean I can understand that people don't want others to go around pretending that they made the map, but will they please take into consideration how ****ing hard it is for others to learn from them this way? |

The new World editor - Unlimited comes with a map protector that only protects the map name, description and author name. Really good idea, everyone should use it. |

Here's how i see it. You have 3 alternatives (i am assuming you have TFT). --First is to modify the mount hippogrif ability, but dont create a custom spell, use the original, in the NE folder. --Secondly dont create a pick up ability for the mount hippogriff, instead modify that for a different pair. From this you have 2 mounts/pick ups: 1 using the mount and 1 using the pick up. --Lastly you can modify the old mount hippogriff spell. It is hardwired to use only the original archer/hippogriff so modify those. You can change their sound sets so your units sound reasonable. If you need an archer or hippogriff just make custom units for them and use those. --Sorry for going on for so long. I believe 1 and 3 should work, i havent tested 2. When giving units the abilities, e.g, give the footman the ability(mount horse) but dont give the horse any (or give him a dud ability so the user will know the horse can pick up fottmen). |

Let's see, if I edit the original I DO get the result I was aiming for, but I can only make one mount ability, while I'm currently aiming for ATLEAST 3 different 'mountings' (a human mounting a horse, an orc mounting a wolf and an orc mounting a wyvern) and the original. So it seems I'll either have to: a. use triggers (which I don't know how) or b. wait till Blizzard fixes this, if ever.... |

I'm not using heroes emote_sweat If I wanted to do a hero who mounts something I wouldn't bother with an additional unit and just use metamorphosis or something like that |

This is a bug in the Campaign Editor, I've encountered it before when I copy pasted Command Aura. I dont know what causes it, since its only happened to me once. I got around it by copying War Drums instead :P You can make this work by editing the slk directly. Your other options include using the old Pilot Tank ability which DOES work if you know how to do it. You have to add the Tank Turret Ability to the tank aswell as the load pilot ability, and the pilot tank ability of course has to be added to the pilot. This will bond them, however the "get out of tank" ability does not work so they will be stuck as one unit :bgrun: |

ChickenPox, if you give the mount hippogryph ability to a hero, and have it mount the hyppogryph or whatever, the hero dies. If you unmount, it spawns a new hero. |
