Toss Tree skill

I wanted to make this spell so that it was basically Storm Bolt, with a log or a tree flying towards the enemy. How can this be done with triggers? Not into Trigger Spells that much...so can someone guide me?

Also, if u could figure out if it was possible that I could get the hero to target a tree, then fire it at the target...might be too much :P

go in to the ability editor then click to make a new custom spell, base that spell of stormbolt now change the missle art from stormbolt to doadds log angled as you can use the treemodels as a projectile for some reason then go to targets allowed and tick the box tree and debris and that should do it, i hope that helps

The problem is i can get it to throw different items and such but trees and certain other destructibles have Multiple Skins that they have that can will be used depending on the tileset you decide to use... So you can't just give it the Tree to throw because it won't work.. You need to MDL edit the tree that you want and only give it one path for the skin... This is kinda hard there is a map floating around these forums that allready has them all done for you.

Auctually you in luck i found that map ima make this test map that has the tree being used as the missle i will also ahve the map with all the tree units zipped with it.

Use War Club (the ability to pick up a tree) in the Mountain Giant.
Make a trigger to detect when he uses that ability.
Add ability "Throw Tree"
Base Throw Tree off of Storm Bolt
Change Bolt model 2 tree doodad
Set duration time to 0.00
Done

Hmm... ok the guy stated that you can't use tree without that so use log.

Well if you open up the maps that i gave..

One of them is my test map which shows how to do the storm bolt ability

and the second one is a map with all the tree units that will actually work.. There also very small so its ez to just import the mdx into your map and use it.

Great stuff, downloaded the files and will take a look at it a bit later on :)

Problem with just adding the dooad (as I already tried that initially :P) Was that it simply didn't show the log being thrown. Was just blank air, then it hit... Blizzard SUCKS in this area, not giving full control over skills and spells...

Ok, I'm dim...

What do I need to do to extract the mdx files from the map?

They aren't imported to the actuall map, so I can't just extract them from there... How do I do this?

REALLY great! This is just what I wanted :))

Zachary open up the RodOfNODs Tree Units.w3m file in WinMPQ. All the mdx files are there. Extract the ones you want to a temp folder and then use the Import manger in FT editor to get them in your map.

Most of the trees are 5-7k each in size.

Ok, trying to install WinMpq, but I'm getting this error:

An nessercery .DLL-File, VB40032.DLL, were not found.

What do I need to get for the program to work ?

Zachary, under the forum [color=dark green]Editing Tools[/color], you'll find everything you need to know about the modding tools. I dunno who reccomended WinMPQ, when Warcraft 3 Viewer would probably be better in the long run....?

Anyways! Just go to either tutorials, or check the threads for help. It's there, you just have to look. In fact, this mighta been answered already, were it in that forum...
BUT, since I'm nice.... You'll need to dl these:

- Visual Basic 4 Runtime: http://shadowflare.ancillaediting.net/download/Vbr4.zip

These, along with a lot of other troubleshooting stuff can be found in the "Important Threads" section of editing tools. scfreak has a FAQ to help you with anything else....
