Help needed - broken cliffs!

Hi,

I'm creating a map where there's a castle with walls. The walls are just high cliffs, with a height of 2. They have 2 squares of width too, and i wanted units to walk there and place towers there too.

The problem is that the cliffs seem to be broken. They look alright visually, all the surfaces forming 90 degree angles, but then they behave like they were piramids. For instance, the catapults i roll on them tilt a lot, as the heroes, and i can't place towers there.

That is the problem that existed on the FireMaze map, if anyone played that one. On some cliffs you couldn't build near the edge of it. That was latter solved in another similar map, Icemaze, by the same author.

I anyone can help i'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

If this cliff is two squares wide, you should be able to build a 2x2 building like a tower with no problem. Try turning on pathing map in the editor (press P) to see where the blockage is. Pink areas are impassable and blue areas are unbuildable.

As to the tilting, it sounds like your terrain isn't level. Use the terrain smoothing tool or the plateau tool to even out the terrain on the cliffs.

Sorry, but that's not it!

I tryed the plateau and everything and still the same problem. The surfaces LOOK flat, all 90º angles. But they behave like they're not flat, when i try to place a unit or structure there. The unit looks tilted, like if it was on the side of a piramid, and the structures just can't be placed.

Please check out the included map. It's small and it's easy to see the problem. There's a demon hunter and 2 catapults. Check the catapult that's on top of the cliff. If it isn't obvious what the problem is, test the map on wc3 and try moving the catapult around.

Okay, now I see. The building problem is easy to fix. The slanting problem you're kind of stuck with.

The reason why you can't build on your wall is all of the white marble you have "underneath" it. Pick the dirt terrain and go over your cliff with dirt. It will clear out the white marble that's preventing construction, and you'll be able to place towers.

The slanting units you can't really fix. It's just the game engine seeing the slant of the cliff and tilting the catapult or other large units accordingly. However, if you must have units running around up there, you can use small units like riflemen because they don't tilt.
