Hmm weird.. please include the map or the icon. but basically you just import the blp or tga and assign the unit icon path to the path you imported and that will work.

If it doesnt you might have a bad version of WE or WC3?

Good Luck

AH HA! your blp is damaged. You will need to remake it. Not sure what your using but i use WC3 Image Extractor II.

I assume u made a tga first so just re export it.

Good Luck!

I couldn't open that blp in War3 Image Extractor (the tool I use to convert to blps), so I'd say that it is an invalid blp.

The method I use to create custom icons is as follows:

- Create a 64 x 64 pixel icon and save it as an uncompressed tga file.

- Use War3 Image Extractor (found in W3M map utilities) to convert the tga to blp format, and then for some reason I have to use W3M map utilities to convert the newly made blp file to another blp format.

- Import it in WE, and accordingly, set the icon to the unit/ability/upgrade.

i saved it as a .TGA file, but when i try to convert it, all its says is that it is not a valid 32 bit tga file.

Have you made the tga a 32 bit file? Also, what program are you using to save it as a tga?

You don't even need to change your paint program, or get a different one. Just use the Warcraft 3 Viewer tool. It can convert TGA to BLP, BLP to TGA. The TGA does not have to be 32 bit with the Viewer Tool so it works much better and its really easy to use.

Warcraft 3 Viewer tool can be found here: Warcraft 3 Viewer Tool

Ok, well I zoomed in a bit, to get rid of the black space. Tell me if it is okay. Also, if you're worried about your map sizes, then I've attached other lower quality blps. Mind you, it is only about 1k difference.

I converted it for ya. The reason it was not working is that you did not have an alpha channel.

how do i make an Alpha Channel?

There should be an option in your paint program to load mask from alpha channel then you got back and you should have the ability to edit mask. Then color a small portion with black witch will cover the part colored in. It can be just a dot in the corner. Then you go back and there should be an option to save mask to alpah channel or just save mask. when ya save the mask you might get the option to save me to disk and alpha channel and mabey some others. Click the alpha channel and there you just made and alpha channel. All .tga files to be converted to blp need to have some sort of alpha channel I belive.
