1) You can't, max is 256x256, has to do with the binary code. You can however make the map ANY combination of the 256x256, so u could make a map that was 128x480.

2) There are models made for stuff like this, you can't remove a weapon as such (unless u go edit the model itself) But u can add weapons (might look wierd in some instances) Here is a link for some different items u can use:

http://www.campaigncreations.org/war...achments.shtml

And, here is how you have to do it:

Create a new trigger like this:

Untitled Trigger 003
Events
(1) Map initialization
Conditions
Actions
(2) Special Effect - Create a special effect attached to the (3)hand right of (4)Peasant 0006 <gen> using (5)war3mapImported\angelsword.mdx

(1) Is when the event should be fired
(2) Is the trigger that will attach the item to your model
(3) Is the place where the item will become attached (see: http://www.wc3campaigns.com/forums/s...threadid=28640 for more attachment points)
(4) Is your unit
(5) Is the .MDX file you have imported using the import manager in the editor.

Hope that helps you a bit :)

There is a way, that you can combine 2 or more maps, but I'm not so sure how to do it, nor am I sure u can use it in multiplayer (unless all members of the game goes to the other map?)

Sounds good

Go to the developers corner, there are some working on mods... I think :P

You can create working maps up to 480x480 by using Zepir's Map Editor found here.

I don't like Zepirs...

I need my grafical layout to be in 3d..makes things more easy and more fun to work with :) Up to you of course :)

I could see the need for Zepir's, but like Zachary said, things become very hard to do. In fact, when you need to make a map that big, Diablo would be very simple to do in chapters...

Srry Zepir, but you need to make a more user-friendly editor. I could use it if I wanted, but the time to do things is not only drawn out, it becomes tedious. Having to know programming, or even what the word binary is, is not available to most casual people, or even some not-so-casual.

Happy Mapping! :foot:

What are you people talking about?:P Just create the big map in Zepir's, save it as a w3x and then edit it normally in WE. If you don't even want to use Zepir's, you can edit one of the miscdata.txt files and change the minimum and maximum map size to your desired size. Make sure you have 'create new map on startup' activated in the preferences tab and voila, big map. After you've got your big map you can simply change back you your default miscdata.txt.

Bah, need I remind you people that you shouldn't be using such big maps? Single player: link smaller maps together (looks better IMO) and Multiplayer: Big map = big lag. Think about the 56kers, some of us used to have to play on modems (I used to), and even pretty good comps lag sumtimes on maps that huge.

Do what I do. Don't make the playing field bigger. Make the game smaller. Saves space too :D
Oh no! My 64 x 64 map has too little space! I need a few more units here! What do I do? I scale everything to 80%. Of course, set the game camera to a little closer.

Unfortunately, this means terrain is going to look a little bigger and more jaggedy. Also, remember to adjust movement speeds accordingly (along with all those shadows and troublesome stuff).

The model files for the weapon and the unit is together. So you can't remove the weapon without removing the unit unless u get a different model. Of course, someone already answered this.

How does editor determine where the unit is? Is it unit-specific, or just a universal point in the models.

I've done lots of work on a 480x480. I've tested it multiplayer on Bnet with around 5-7 players. Now granted, this map is set up as an RPG type map and is not oriented towards large scale battles, but there wasn't any more noticeable lag while playing on it than usual.

For anybody interested, you can see some shots of this map (including two rather large overhead shots I pieced together) on my website:

Take care.
