I've tried to find a tutorial here, warcraftiii.net and everywhere else (probably) but I haven't come across any at all. :( I just have to hope that they get one up soon. |

[glow=strength=2,color=green] My Guide to Making New Spell Icons Materials
Although I am not sure if that file path for the newly imported pic is right, it goes something along that path. NOTE: Pending on the type of spell your making the icons for, you'll want to make two, one as ....\BTN(spell name).blp (for when it is usable) and one ...\DisBTN(spell name).blp which is for a hero that needs to level more to get the spell (normally just hazed out (darkend a little, you know)). Passive should also have the yellow/gold sides like "heal" does. Hope this helps you, and if you need more help, just post a reply again :D. Good luck!:ggani:[/glow] |

Hm, it doesn't work. After I converted the changed picture to the map, it appears in the map, but when I use it, it is empty where the icon should be or it is replaced or even lightgreen. Why does that happend when I converted both .blp and .tga... none worked. But both appears and are chooseable in the object editor, but there still are no picture!! :/ |

This happens to me sometimes. Do you have the DisBTN pic 4 the spell also? |

By the way, DISBTNs are really easy to make. Just take your original button, color the border to black, and go to Image--->Adjust--->Hue/Saturation. Set the Saturation and Lightness to -50 and you're done =) |

Or If you have PitzerMike's editor you can easily make brand new icons. |

Anyone that can help me? I have imported both DISBTNSpellthing.blp and BTNSpellthing.blp. In the game they still don't show up.... They are all black but I can use the spell, so I know it is the icons that are malfunctional... Credits in my map to the one who can solve my problem =) Message me on icq if it is needed... Well, the only thing that I can think of is to make sure that your pathfile is correct :/ and if that isn't the case, I suggest waiting for the magnificant Zoi to reply, ehehhe. |

This is all information in the Import Manager File Name: DISBTNSharingan.blp BTNSharingan.blp Type: Image/Texture Full Path: war3mapImported\DISBTNSharingan.blp war3mapImported\BTNSharingan.blp Object Editor: Art - Icon Normal: war3mapImported\BTNSharingan.blp And when I doubleclick on Art - Icon Normal, I can choose that .blp file from "Imported" list. |

You've set up the icons right, but maybe you made a mistake during editing. I know that Warcraft 3's engine can't handle certain aspects of image files (for instance, certain levels of color, slightly wrongly sized etc). Id compare those aspects of your icon to a blizzard made one and see if theres any difference. |

This sounds like you have a black alpha channel. Re-Open your .tga versions of your icons. If you're using Photoshop, go to Window--->Show Channels. In the channels menu, scroll down to find the alpha channel. It'll probably be solid black. Just fill this with solid white, and resave your icon. Convert it to .blp. Reimport it, etc. I've never used Paint Shop Pro, so if you're using that, I can't tell you how to do this stuff in it :/ |
