I just went to a french WCIII site (found here) and i discovered that their making: A: VERY high quality models, that look amazing B: VERY high quality skins, that look even more amazing C: THEIR RELEASING THEM FOR DOWNLOAD TO THE PUBLIC the last one is what interested me most, why cant we do that? Why are the only models publicly available for download made mainly by Cookie and Xaran Alamas? |

/me thinks that skin is from ut2k3, if he isn't mistaken. Besides, why make a post like this in the first place, nothing good can come from it, expessally seeing as how you phrased it as "wc3c is worse then this site." If you want more models and skins for download, do your part and make some yourself, if you can't then your part of the problem not the solution. |

who knows, maybe they have more people who know what they are doing and who come from artistic backgrounds. Or they are more organized. But you have to admit this site is the best out of all the american ones :) and yes, I agree, flaming won't help. Learn yourself and try to make a difference. edit: by the way, I went to their site, too bad I can't speaka any french, but how many projects are they hosting? or released? and how good are they in the other areas of map making? p.s. I only saw those 2 skins that are good and were released, and I read, (cookie interfered) :), that it's very high poly anyway, my comp wouldn't handle a lot of those units |

to answer Chobo: I'm actually curious as to why we arnt releasing this kind of stuff, i'm not trying to flame, but i really cannot see any good reason as to why we cant release that kind of quality model. I am making skins for download, whenever i have the time (i got myself involved lotsa projects as well as skinning for people who just want skins) so i'm kinda full up right now. To answer sashok: i'm not flaming, i'll make this clear right now. I'm not sure how many projects are hosted (i didnt look that far) go to the homesite and see for ureself. I did look around and i noticed that they are good terrainers and skinners too, basicly it seems the french are more involved in getting things done than some of the people i know. |

The point is that, msot of the work on their site is CNP....It is very easy seen, CnP work is easily spotted, and for those skins that arent, they suck....Explore the forum a bit, and you will start seeing that almost all the skins are cnp....CNP isnt a skill,CnP might take allot of time, but does not require skill, and therfore should not be used for skinning, it would be ok if u cnped the skin, and used it as a reference to color over, but CnP is what lazy people do, who are too lazy to work on real skins..... |

people arnt puting those models up for dl cause there all(for the most part) are for campaigns. and alot of people here dont have 3ds max so not alot of us can model edit so there cant be any high quality models cause there all being used for somthing. another thing is us gmax users finaly got a working exporter but we cant skin with it so the models arnt skinied so what us gmax users need now is a working textporter then maybe there will be some more high quality models |

I seriously doubt any of those high res skins are 256X256... They're very high res, I don't know if they're really War3 optimized. If they were 256X256, there'd be quite a bit of texture stretching and pixelation. |

interesting, i cant see CnP anywhere, and they look just fine in game, they are for download (or at least the ones i looked at are.) |

Actually, ALL of the models I saw were from other games. Thus, they arn't any good at making them, just taking them from other games and importing them. |

The texture maps are HUGE, they're 1024x768, AND those models he attaches to the heads, such as the alien ones, are ripped from UT2K3. The polycounts for the heads alone are WAY beyond reasonable; they're like in the 2000 range. Clotaire is not smart. |

Well if its all unskilled CnP then u skilled people should be able to make it, i for one would like too see some more of that kind of CnP cause it looks damn good. Also CnP DOES require some skill, try it, make a CnP skin that blends well and looks good, its not as easy as you might think. |

You don't understand. Those models are not appropriate for Warcraft 3. They have way too many faces. |
