skinning help

i just don't get it. no matter what I do, my skin just wont work in my map. I have scoured the forum and none of the solutions fix my problem.

What skin are you trying to edit. What steps do you do when importing it into a map?

That tutorial explained how to import them into a map for me.

in some cases i got everything to work right (and making a very glitchy looking peasant to boot) but I can't seem to get the skin onto the elven ranger (Sylvanas Windrunner) for which it was edited for. on some maps I try to import the skin it gives me an unknown MPQ error (using TechMPQ btw).

If you have TFT, just use the import editor in World Edit.

tried it. flat out doesnt work.

When im using techmpq and it says Unknown MPQ error i just restart my computer and it usally works..mabey u should try that.

nope. no effect. still says "Error opening MPQ file; unknown error".

hm..... did u try redownloading tech mpq?

no effect. on SOME maps it works fine but on just about any map I make it screws up. And I don't think the map got garbled through the email either.

What do you mean it doesn't work? What skin are you trying to replace and what are you using as the filename?

im trying to replace the Sylvanas Windrunner skin. I have the blp and i have checked the file location over and over again: unis\creeps\SylvanusWindrunner\SylvanusWindrunner.blp
yes it is spelled with a u. it doesnt matter though, it got a error in opening the map, not replacing whatever was inside it.

I don't know if you just had typos, but it needs to be...

Units\Creeps\SylvanusWindrunner\SylvanusWindrunner.blp

With those CAPS exact. If it doesn't work, try importing it into a diff. map and see if that helps. Also, there are two Sylvanis's you know? One human and one undead.

nope. it still can't open the map. i have attatched the map I am trying to edit. maybe someone can find the bug in here.

This for reg. warcraft?!

By the way, your map is un-openable, so you screwed something beyond repair. Start over and at least see if my above path will work.
