Rexxar's Campaign Triggers

Hey all.

Can anyone explain to me how to set up triggers to switch between various levels a-la the TFT Orc Campaign? This RPG of mine is based in one huge map, but I need about a dozen caves and dungeons, etc. No room left on my world map for it though.

Thanks,

cant be done. you would need to use the save and restore game cache trigger but it says at the bottom only available on blizzard signed maps.:nono:

Actually, you can do it via game cache. You can save the whole map, save the passing hero in a game cache, close this map, load a new one and load the passing hero. You could also load regular units, if you would mess up with variables a bit.

Wait till the new patch comes out. BLizzard say it will come in september it will probably enable the only blizzard thing.

I'm betting it won't. I'n not a big fan of Blizzard's decision to disable the thing, but I can see their reasons. It would be sooo easy for a malicious person to make a loop that saves the game and put it on B.net. Warcraft 3 viruses would be created en-mass. Why they couldn't enable it in singleplayer maps is beyond me though. If someones stupid enough to do that to thier own computer, they shouldn't be messing with triggers in the first place.

no. 'fraid not. when you save the map it loses the 'Blizzard Signed' section of it's header. No way round it unless someone cracks the code (and I don't want them too because of the sort of damage a virus using this trigger could do).

I copied the entire "Transition Triggers" segment from the orc maps and am currently adapting it to my own. If what 35263526 says is true, then when I get it all working, it will, in essence, not work because it's a not a signed Blizzard map.

If I changed something in the Orc maps like triggers, terrain, doodads etc, and then saved it, would it still retain the Blizzard signed tag?

First off, copying the trigger will not work. There is no way around this. Placing them won't work either. You can, but in-game they will not function. There's no point wasting time making a map based around this method. Find another, such as saving all objects to the game cache (it is possible using JASS).

Secondly, any changes to maps extracted from any of the .MPQs cause the map header to lose it's Blizzard sign data. If you figure out how to decrypt this, I beg you, do not tell, because it would allow people to easily make Warcraft 3 viruses (by creating an infinite loop trigger that saves the game, therefore fillinf up the hard disk with hard to remove files.

Basically, you can't do it and I wouldn't waste my time making a map to later find that the intergral triggers don't work.

I threw a few doodads in the orc maps and changed some terrain around and saved it, but the transition triggers still work. Just food for thought.

Strange. One reason could be because the triggers are unchanged, as are player settings etc.

... Goes of to do some investigating ...

I'd love to work alongside your investigation, but i"m sitting the middle of my IST class.

Let me know if you figure anything out.

Hell, we're not doing anything important.

I'll be home in about 15 minutes. If you've got AIM, you can catch me there. My nickname is "Adins Bejoty."
