I read this somewhere before, so it isn't my find but I don't know who to give credit to. But I've seen this asked alot, and people refer to lots of object editor lag. To reduce object editor lag by about 95% all you simple have to do is go to the Window drop down box and deselect the brush list. I'm going to sticky this for now, since it should be fairly important anyways, after a while, I'll remove the sticky, but make sure you guys do this. Big improvement. |

What does brush list actually do though? |
| 09-17-2003, 08:22 AM | #5 |
It displays a list of brushes (units, etc.) at the left down corner of the WE. I never used it and I think many people don't use it. But the WE has to load all Object Data again for it. So disable it. @FyreDaug: I also don't know who did it. I only know, that someone posted that at some time into a thread in Editing Tools (thats why I already knew it). |

I think it was Lord Vexorian. |

Actually, I've known this for quite a while. I never actually used the brush list or the mini-map. I only use it on odd occasions. It really helps. Especially if you're a mac user like me with 8 apps open. WE is a memory and CPU pig. :nono: |

Thanks for the great tip :D |

@Krakau: Right, now I remember. It was Lord Vexorian. @Pheonix: You can't accuse the WE to be a CPU and RAM pig, as it is a huge program. @Shvegait: Do you know that that is considered as spam? |

…a huge, clunky *** program. Sigh. If only Blizzard would actually make an editor that's stable. Or isn't cumbersome. Wishes...dreams. I was always suspicious when they say they don't support it. And how did they put up with it for three years, anyway? emote_confused |

Wow, that's amazing! Thanks for the tip! The difference in speed is like night and day. It used to take fooorrrreeeevvvvveeeeerrrr to rename a unit in the Object Editor, for instance... Now it's almost instantanious. Thanks again! |

Who actually cares about who discovered this? The important thing here is that it really disables the lag, at least for me, Object Editor would be so annoying for me without disabling the lag list. |

Dataangel told me in IRC chat. Very useful, esp. when changing those damnable strings. |
