Variables..........

What could I use as a reference (the bit in the [] area) in a unit array? I tried custom value but it doesn't work. WHY OH WHY OH WHY DID BLIZZ NOT ALLOW UNIT IDs AS ARRAY REFERENCES? OH THE INSANITY!
