Seeking experienced mappers.

I started thinking up this project a few days ago. It will be a battle between three factions(not yet decided which), over a huge map.

Three teams battle out on a huge map. There are up to 7-8 outspread cities/villages all over the map, each with its own defenses, offenses and bonuses. The players for each team has already captured one town and as set up an encampment there. These cities are not stronger than the others. The unoccupied villages start out as hostile, and will defend themselves.

You are battling over the land, trying to outnumber the enemy by taking over villages to increase your armys strength. The capture system will be similar to Medal of Honor, when you first enter a town, it will first become neutral and after that it will become yours. If an enemy enters the town, it will become neutral and after some time the enemy's, unless you do something about it.

There will be teleports to decrease the amount of time it takes to travel over the map. The teleports will only work between your allied towns, and once a town becomes neutral, you will lose the ability to teleport there, so teamplay is vital, considering the fact that you are only 12/3 players, in other words 4 players in each team. I might have to create a computer for each team that controls the villages, so that may make it 3 players. The game will also be playable with only 2 teams, allowing up to 6 players(or 5 if I have to implent the computers).

"What's so special about this?" you might ask yourself. Well, for one, the space! It will all be very free, allowing you to follow walk in the jungle however you want. There will also be certain terrain themes, ie one part of the map will be a mountain-like area, another will be a swamp and another a sea. This will be a hectic game, with alot of fun involved. The terrain will be strategical, with height differences with modified chance to % percent.

What I'm trying to achieve is use the most that is possible out of the WE and external programs to create a fun and (hopefully) innovative map.

Well, I will and can't do this all alone. I will below post what I can do(I snatched it from kharma :p).

Skins - 20%
Button Graphics - 50%
Models - Creation - 5%
Models - Animation - 0%
Models - UV Unwrapping - 0%
Models - Mdl editing - 1%
Cinematics - 60%
Music/Audio Creation - 5%
Voice Acting - 0%
Concept Art - 0%
AI Creation - 0%
Txt/Slk editing, spells - 100%
Scriptwriting/Storyline development - 5%

I know my way around the WE very well. I am very experienced in doing spells, but my best part is probably triggers. I can do graphics too. I am going to have a LOT of help. Below is a list of things that I will need someone(you?) to do.

Modelling - Custom models is a must
Skinning - There are a lot better skinners than me, I'm probably not even mediocre.
Voice Acting - Not a very big job, though I'm planning on having custom warning messages.
Storyline developer - Important job
Terrainer - A must! I am not very good at making good looking terrain, though I can help out with the basic layout. Knowing how to place doodads good is a requirement.
Triggers - I can't do it all, even if I can do the most.
Spells - As above, I can't do it all, even if I can do the most.

I am expecting alot. You should out of me too. This might be a map in the series of War of Chaos - a serie me, Daemos & Ultramagnetic is making - but if so then some information above may change, as we are working off an already thought-up story.

Please post what you think about the idea, feel free to criticize me, and if you are interested in helping out, also post here.

Alright, count me in... I'll supply with terraining jobs of thats alright? ****! i just remembered that my tft is fked... oh well, count me out =) I'll be happy to support u with anything as soon as i get tft, or now.... damN!

hehe, well i gotta admit, i had a crack since i couldnt get the money =( but i was and am planning to buy the game, and now the crack doesn't work anymore... i sat a whole night trying to crack the game and i got it working! but just 4 a few patches =(...
oh well. in three days im getting my cash... I've got some old roc maps which u could use as a point of reference (is that right?)

- minor skinning job (small stuff)
- all kind of terrain editing/creating
- spellmaking, also some triggerstuff and icon-editing
- even if my english isnt the best, i read lots of fantasy books and im a roleplayer for a long time writing lots of stories.. hmm. so i could help with storyline

dunno how much time i have, in a week im going to work again

It was supposed to be a open rpg theme thou with a close camra so your under the tree canopy. And you would buy towns be a merchant going back and forth selling stuff, or be a bandit and attack towns and stuff. I also had some ideas for unique ingame camra effects *too much camra stuff proved too hard* The biggest gap i ran into is what the towns do? i thought "build stuff and give me money, then i actually got to what buildings to place. R u thinking that each town will spawn units? Another problem i ran into is how i would set up town defenses. I like your idea of soon as an enemy eneters town, will there be gates? defenses? in my opinion in the middle of a town should be an area that makes the town neutral. If the enamy gets there the defending players lose control. One final thing, BIG MAPS 256 sounds nice but your towns will be too big and your free wilderness open, or vice versa. Using the war3 map utilities was the only solution but 480x480 seems a little too much *even though it was the perfect size*

The map is currently 256x256. I have the 7 villages placed out on the map, they are not TOO big, but I got plenty of space to increase some of their's size.

Glad to see that you're interested. Are there no modelers around? :/

Doh, now that i've got a functioning tft, iwas going to reinstall warcraft since it was kinda weird in a lot of ways... so when i'm 60% into install it says that it cant read sector bla bla, i take out the cd and find that theres a big bad scratch in it!!! argh!!! well, i just gotta lend a mates cd and install with that.. but still!!!

AWWW, im never going to put a cd on the desk again!
