http://www.spritebytes.com is a MegaMan webcomic site. Among other things, we've decided to make a map for fun, to support spritebytes and to support warcraft. We don't know much about warcraft map making, so that's why we've come here to ask. We know basic common-sense stuff, though, so we've spent some time on getting some ground stuff done first. What we're looking for is basically a guy who has read the whole series (again, you can view it at spritebytes.com) and has a general knowledge of megaman. If you've only played a few games, arx has sent me this site that will help you GREATLY. Please only go by the regular megaman names (for NES) http://www.mmhp.net/Original/GameList.html everything. What type of map is this going to be? Well, we considered everything. So after a bunch of other stuff I can't think of, we finally came to the decision. A 5 way hero siege. 5 good guys, dr light as the main tower you have to protect, and tons of megaman references. It's perfect for spritebytes. If you don't know by now, the lanes will be in a star shape. One lane for up, one lane for left, one lane for right, one lane for bottom right, one lane for bottom left. There should be shops and junk next to each one so they don't have to run halfway across the map like in 4 way hero siege. Speaking of 4 way hero siege, I noticed a flaw in it. I don't want there to be too many enemies, because it gets impossible on the later levels with an average computer because of so many enemies. I also don't want one of those towers that kills you instantaneously like in 4 way hero siege, that's caused too many people to get screwed over. The way dying will hopefully work in this is that if you die you lose all your items and gold but you still come back, except.. with no items and gold. So if it's in a later level you'll get screwed but not TOTALLY screwed like in 4WHS. The enemies... As for enemies, you can get all the names and junk from that link I sent previously. If you're too lazy to go back and check it's http://www.mmhp.net/Original/GameList.html . What I want is basically enemies towhere one person can take each lane, but if there's 1 extra person it adds double the enemys on one certain lane. I dunno how hard this would be to add, if it's too much trouble just drop it and make it a 5 person map. Okay, we've already gotten the heros looks, abilities, and the items done. The descriptions, damage, etc, are pretty much up to you, and how you balance the map. Well, I think this sums it up. If you are serious about this map and like spritebytes enough to make this hero siege, contact us. :::Contacts::: Sprite Bytes Admin -- Arx Ventosus Contacts: Spritebytes forums (www.spritebytes.com) AIM: Arx Ventosus Sprite Bytes Staff Head Advertising and Forums mod -- Arch0wl Contacts: Spritebytes forums (www.spritebytes.com) Arch0wl.com forums (www.arch0wl.com) AIM: Arch0wl EDIT: Since large amounts of text OBVIOUSLY hurts people's brain, I edited out only the non important stuff. Someone move this into the campaign and team gathering forums. There, he'll get more help than here. |

2: Read the post. Also, I don't think you should've even responded if you can't even spell the site name right (it's sprite BYTES not sprites... jesus christ) 3: I see other people willing to help with maps. 4: Deal with it. 7: Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know large amounts of text is too much for you to read and hurts your brain and makes you think too much. I thought warcraft map makers were generally smart and wouldn't have too much trouble reading all that since I saw another post just as long as this about an RPG. :Heh: |

I posted it there too, so there's really no need to move it. Seriously though it seems like every post I make is ignored. |

Just stumbled across this post and thought I would add the following: I think the main reason would be the time factor involved. In my experience a map is going to take from 1 to a 100 hours for something that works but isn't special. You start to get something that actually might become popular around 200 to 300 hours. Add to that game time, testing and updates and you can easily hit 400 to 600 hours on a map that you are trying to have become popular. (even that much time doesn't allways work) (IMHO that is) }D{ |

Well yeah, but we've mainly said alot of the stuff to do (I know it's a pain, but try to read the whole post) As for your comment about the time, I've seen other people just jump up and start helping someone on a project. It was some RPG though but still. :bgrun: |

Could be interesting. I've kinda out grown the whole mega man thing, but it would be an interesting challenge to see an MM conversion. But you are talking custom tilesets, and custom models to even have it close to being what it should be. Exsisting war3 models and such really wouldnt do mega-man justice. I would look for a modeler first, and if you get a decent screenshot with a decent model, people will probably be more likely to help. |

Woah slow down man haha.. this is just a 4 way hero siege lol... if you want to do that for an rpg or something go ahead but... well read the whole post... there aren't any custom models, don't really want any since this is just a 4 way hero siege and that would buff up the map size to kingdom come... not looking for something SUPER SPECTACULAR anyways... There ARE custom abilities though, and I'm not sure how much work that will be to do. Again, almost everything is addressed in the first post. |

I did read your post. I just shouldnt have edited the part where I said "I" wouldn't join a project like this without custom models and skins. That aside, what you are suggesting could be learned and made in a week or 2 easily, and given the simplicity of what you want to do, it's probably just not worth the time of anyone who has bothered to read the post so far. Even simple things are time consuming. Maybe you and the staff of spritebytes should just make it yourselves. Good luck ! |

We've already done some of it(basic stuff), and what we CAN do is not near enough. We don't know any scripting at all and editing abilities to do what we want is beyond what we can do. |

spell editing, especially the basic *** spell editing most people do, would take probably 3 whole hours or so to learn.... not very long...also i would like to say i agree with all of ff_behemoth's points, but i think your post might be a bit long as well, people dont want to read something thats not interesting to them for very long, its a waste of time |

Why do you even respond, if you're not going to help? Is it to increase your post count or something? Please, only respond if you're interested. Only thing we really need is one guy to do the scripting and another guy to do.. everything else that hasn't been done already. |

Okay since a bunch of people were complaining about it I shortened the post. Hopefully now more of you will get the message :\ |
