Hey all, I just wanted to let you all know, after talking a friend at blizzard name Nick ( don't have his last name on hand) who worked on the editor, he has told me that #1 we can never add new races or new resources. We would have to have an open version o fthe game called the "staff" version. I just want to let you all know this. |

Guest | Thanks for that INSIDE INFO. Now we can all go on living because we now know that we will never have "teh uber-1337 OPEN STAFF version." I just don't understand how you got such INSIDE INFO... /sarcasm mode off. |

oh its pretty easy, i guess when you have worked with people that now work at blizzard. it makes that inside info a whole hell of a lot easier to get. |

Guest | Gee, I guess someone should inform those people who have already released maps with new races... AV |

they are not new races you can name a unit anything you want. but you cannot ad a full new race to the game meaning your still using what comes with the game AKA the creeps etc... |

Guest | does making a new custom unit with a custom model and custom sounds still mean its not a new unit? |

Guest | Wow, the irony is so thick in here you could cut it with a knife... |

Guest | Seems to me that Warcraft 3 would easily be MORE mainstream than say... Star Trek Armada 2... AND YET, it is 10X easier to mod that game, add new models/textures, add new races, and almost ALL aspects of the game. Again, if Blizzard SaYs they want a modding community, then they need to get off their A** and give us the tools to do so. It is like somebody who wants a house, but does bearly anything for it! Get with it Blizzard! |

well interesting enough, and i do quote this from the e-mail i got from nick at blizzard " we really don't want you guys modding it that much, we give you access to what we think you should have access to" So I mean it would be nice to have these tools etc... but that doesn't seem to be on the same page blizzard is. |

Get hold of Noodlez, the guy who made the map hack. He lives up the street from Blizz HQ. If he needs help, I can pick locks and make explosives... :) For the good of the Mod community, we no longer have any choice but to commit the crimes of Breaking and Entering and Theft! To arms, my legally-challenged brethren! |

Guest | Hmmm, why is Blizzard so cheesy about keepin' the goods to themselves then? If Activision can have a huge modding community and give almost unparalleled modding access to STA2, then why can't Blizzard get off their high horse and do the same for their fans? Depending on the fan, some would find it more fun to mod WC3 than STA2 (though I have had modding fun with STA). It is plain silly to keep the goods from the modders, we are going to come up with the tools ourselves with or without Blizzard, but it would be MUCH nicer if they decided to help instead. |
