Spritebytes.com looking for map makers!

http://www.spritebytes.com is a MegaMan webcomic site. Among other things, we've decided to make a map for fun, to support spritebytes and to support warcraft.

We don't know much about warcraft map making, so that's why we've come here to ask. We know basic common-sense stuff, though, so we've spent some time on getting some ground stuff done first.

What we're looking for is basically a guy who has read the whole series (again, you can view it at spritebytes.com) and has a general knowledge of megaman. If you've only played a few games, arx has sent me this site that will help you GREATLY. Please only go by the regular megaman names (for NES) http://www.mmhp.net/Original/GameList.html

What type of map is this going to be? Well, we considered everything.

It would have TANKED as a tower defense, so we screwed that idea.

A rpg is way too much work for any map maker, so we scratched that out. (however, if you WANT to do one, contact arx at the end of this section, but unless you really want to and are SERIOUS about it don't really bother cause it's a lot of work.)

We considered a maul.. then we laughed. The only fun mauls are pokemaul and wintermaul, we saw a megaman maul and we almost wanted to stab our eyes with forks.

We considered DOTA... this was actually one of our main options. Thing is, bad side doesn't really have any bad guys besides skullman, ringman, and wily, and it's pointless waiting untill the comic gets some bad guys.

We considered a maze.. but mazes are just boring, and are too nerve racking.

We didn't even consider a melee, because noone plays those, and if they do it's the regular maps provided with WC3.

We considered a hero arena, but see DOTA for the reason, not near enough heros.

So after a bunch of other stuff I can't think of, we finally came to the decision.

A 5 way hero siege. 5 good guys, dr light as the main tower you have to protect, and tons of megaman references. It's perfect for spritebytes.

If you don't know by now, the lanes will be in a star shape. One lane for up, one lane for left, one lane for right, one lane for bottom right, one lane for bottom left. There should be shops and junk next to each one so they don't have to run halfway across the map like in 4 way hero siege.

Speaking of 4 way hero siege, I noticed a flaw in it. I don't want there to be too many enemies, because it gets impossible on the later levels with an average computer because of so many enemies. I also don't want one of those towers that kills you instantaneously like in 4 way hero siege, that's caused too many people to get screwed over.

The way dying will hopefully work in this is that if you die you lose all your items and gold but you still come back, except.. with no items and gold. So if it's in a later level you'll get screwed but not TOTALLY screwed like in 4WHS.

The enemies... As for enemies, you can get all the names and junk from that link I sent previously. If you're too lazy to go back and check it's http://www.mmhp.net/Original/GameList.html .

What I want is basically enemies towhere one person can take each lane, but if there's 1 extra person it adds double the enemys on one certain lane. I dunno how hard this would be to add, if it's too much trouble just drop it and make it a 5 person map.

Okay, we've already gotten the heros looks, abilities, and the items done. The descriptions, damage, etc, are pretty much up to you, and how you balance the map.

(Shockwave) Pharaoh Shot [Kind of a ( shaped shot, like the gargoyle attack, big graphic, same effect as shockwave]
(Black Arrow) Egyptian Aura [Same thing as black arrow]
(Polymorph) Ancient Curse [Instead of turning into sheep, turns into mummys/zombies, you target with a dispel-type target]
Ultimate:
(Locust Swarm) The Plague [Same thing except they do more damage and give more to pharaoh]

(Frost Bolt) Gemini Laser [Same thing as megamans Buster Shot, except it does less damage, but slows them down]
(Frost Armor) Protection Aura [Same thing as frost armor, but it gives more armor]
(Replenish Mana and Life) Reprogram [Same thing as Replenish Mana and Life, except you can target yourself]
Ultimate:
(Mirror Image) Duplicate [This is a tough one. Instead of giving 3 mirror images it gives 1, but the mirror image is just as powerful as gemini, can even do damage, just can't use abilities so people can't mirror image the mirror image]

Metalman(Strength - Agility - Intelligence):
(Fan of Knives) Metal Blades [Same thing except more damage and instead of shooting 3 in a triangle it shoots 4 in a X shape]
(Unholy Frenzy) Stupify [Same thing as unholy frenzy really]
(Mine) Landmine [Drops 3 at lv1, 5 at lv2, 10 at lv3]
Ultimate:
(Blade Storm) Steel Tornado [Same thing as bladestorm except more damage]

Elecman(Intelligence - Agility - Strength):
(Chain Lightning) Thunder Beam [This is a tough one, instead of jumping 5 times or so at lv3 it should go about 5 at lv1, 10 at lv2, and 20 at lv3]
(Immolation) Electricity Aura [Same thing except it does a LOT more]
(Thunder Clap) Discharge [more damage, longer stun]
Ultimate:
(Phase Shift) Spark [Disable autocast option, make the cooldown low, make it last about 5 seconds]



Dr wily is probably a controversial hero. Chances are he won't make it into the map because he's a staff hero, and the password would probably get leaked some how or some way. If you can protect the map towhere absolutely noone knows about the password, great, but unless you can do that, don't go for it.

Dr Wily is a staff hero. The password should be a whisper command to yourself so that no one knows about it. If people find out the password remove it. Protect the map so people don't find out the password. Dr Wily is only accessable by Sprite Bytes Staff and Sprite Bytes Map Makers. The whole idea of him is a staff hero towhere if someone is being a dick they can get him and totally screw that person over. Dr wily's stats should be 2x that of megamans.

Dr.Wily:
(Blink) Spoon and Two Forks [Allows him to teleport anywhere on the map, without having gone there]
(Slow) Ding Dong Ditch [Slows them so much that they can barely move at all]
(Hex) Best. Plan. Evar. [Turns them into a useless thing for 5 minutes]
Ultimate:
(Firebolt) Royally Fuxed. [This is an ability towhere if everyone on the map is being lame they can end it. It should be a HUGE fireball, about 5-10x the size of megamans firebolt, and travel SUPER SLOW, about 20 speed or so. The range is so huge that it kills EVERY SINGLE THING ON THE MAP.]

As for the items.. we only really did the recovery items. The accessories are entirely up to you, as we didn't really know what to add. The only thing we ever see people using is claws of attack ++whatever. And tombs, again, are up to you, and how you balance the map.

Why don't you have people skin the guys for you instead of tinting it. I could possibly do some skins.

Sure... right now what we really need though is someone who can do the basic 5 way hero siege stuff and the custom abilities. The skinning is mainly an optional thing and will probably come last. But thanks for actually reading the post and offering your help :D
