Hey whats the best grass or whatever to use on the grass next to a river?

I use grassy dirt or sand most of the time. Sand if it's an ocean, dirt or gassy dirt if it's a lake or river.
Village environment doodads, shrub and river rushes are also good to add. That my opinion, of course. :D

You may also want to add some doodads to the terrain if you're trying to make it look realistic.

If its a river id reccomend mebbe,if you have TFT, the Sunken Ruins cattail, and also river rushes + TFT shrub. grassy dirt with a little touch of rough/normal dirt is also ok..

1 thing, river rushes can look an awful lot like tall grass... :D

Actually, yes... but if you dont use too many, it looks alot better...
