To clarify for anyone who might be confused...

Single Player Rpg: Something you would play off of B.net such as the orc campaign. Your by yourself controlling 1 or 2 heroes and questing alone. These probably include more cinematics and storyline than a B.Net rpg would.

Team Rpg: A B.net rpg in which you would be questing with 2-4 people. These can be fun as you work together to kill a common evil, however your partners could easily leave or do stupid things in the game which bring the whole team down.

Competitive Rpg: Theres not too many of these out there, but you work with 1 other person, questing and killing while the other teams do the same. You'll probably run into other groups at times and fight it out.

FFA Rpg with Alliances: You begin alone however you can choose to allie or unallie with whomever you plz. This can be very fun, but the alliances are a little tricky. You could be backstabbed at any moment or no one may want to allie you at all.

Hope that helps. Thx for Voting

I voted Singleplayer, because unless online RPGs have partially open game and the ability to save heros (which most don't), they usually get really tired after a while. Puls, when you're on B.NET, theres always that noob who joins the game but when it starts he spouts c**p like 'w00t! WuT tHe h311 i5 tHiS? i w1ll k1k a11 uR a55eS! 1 aM ThE l33t! w00t!'

I dont think there really is a best type out there, each have their strong points but they all have issues.
I think the best is between single player and team, but thats just me.

I appreciate the input. Seems like there is a lot of valid reasons to make each rpg. While single player rpgs offer a thicker storyline, allow to play at your own leasure, and without annoying b.net gamers, I believe they also lack in replay value. That would be my biggest problem with single player rpgs. You finish it once and you feel satisfied, but a lot of times you want it to keep going or you want to be able to use your team and battle your friends.

The competitive style rpgs in which you have human enemies have a lot of replay value if you ask me. Even though your venturing through the same world many times, the other people will be doing different things each time to interfere with your questing. The problem here is that the story line isn't nearly as deep and you probably won't get hooked right away. Additionally average b.net gamers might just leave in the middle of your game and ruin it. Leavers and annoying b.neters in general really ruin this form of rpg.

I'd like to take a stab at making at least two of these styles of rpgs. I will eventually convert the rpg i'm working right now into two different versions. Which two do you things think would be best?
