Mac problems

Ok, nothing too great, but still irritating. There's no advanced map editors for macs. Ok, this is quite clear because i guess i am the only (or at least one of the rare) mac users who try to make maps/mods to WC3. This post is complete whining, and I am not sure why i posted it. Maybe because i wanted the others to know that there are some people that can't have it all. ;)

Well if any Mac user feel like programming his own "Mac Map Editor", I'd be glade to help him/her about map files formats and map editing tricks. I wont code for Macs though!.

The Blink World editor works GREAT on the mac! Here's my post from the main Blink thread... ( http://wc3campaigns.com/forums/showt...5&pagenumber=1 ) You should be able to get a completly working Blink instalation with this. If it's needed/wanted, I'd be happy to write Mac instructions/make a Mac distrib of it (the big difference being the format of the file to download, the documentation, and the Mac version of MPQ2k. and, speaking of that, the mods would have to add some more extentions to the bottom for Mac compression...).

Well, the early MPQ editions worked alright on my Mac OS X machine, just had to convert the SMPQ to a mac one using BauhmautZero's great tools and modify it a bit to use WC3's patch name, but when I saw the new format I woried- In D2, the Mac version wouldn't accept custom text. Thankfully, it worked fine- Just installing like the PC version. GoldenUrg's trigger patch installed fine too, and adding the .slk to the map with MPQ2k should work great, though I haven't tried it yet, with BauhmautZero's port of MPQ2k, though I don't think there's anyway to automate it, so you just have to type 'a mapname.w3m unitmetadata.slk units\unitmetadata.slk' after launching it and moving the map into the MPQ2k directory. And as to the required place to install WC3, looking at the shortcut or whatever silly PC thing it is it seems you could just right click, properties, and then change all the paths to '\Program Files\Warcraft III\MPQ2k\ to whereever MPQ2k /is/ installed, or something like that.
*takes a deeep breath.*
Well, incase you want to add a note to the readme or something, there it is. :) Great fun playing around with the units so far, thuogh I haven't done anything serious yet- Great job.

On the coding side, I am quite into programing, but haven't gotten into much big-time stuff- And haven't gotten too far into Cocoa, the Mac OS X programing enviroment either, as I'm currently on perl- so probally wouldn't be remotly capable to try for a while to make a Mac-specific one. Hope this helps though...
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the help, though my browser didn't accept the macstarcraft server. Gotta try later, if it would work. :D
