My question is plain and simple, how do I get a WarCraft III model into gmax? |

This is an import script by KMK, and you'll need to extract the model from war3.mpq with WinMPQ |

Well, MDL's are big files with a lot of text about how the model should look. However, gMax cannot directly "translate" this so that's why Blizzard invented the MDX. Somewhere around this site there should a converter that converts MDL to MDX and vise versa. So practically you're trying to import a file which has the wrong format, which easily can be fixed. |

ok but what format should i use to edit the skin cos now i dunno what is what.... i got war3fileconverter, gmax, milkshape3d 1.6.6, and some MPQ extractor. I think i got all what i need for skinning if no what i need more. I extracted some mdx and now what i do to edit it with gmax or milkshape3d ????? Can you help me for that ? Now its look like so complicated ... I just have to know what i have to do exactly and after I'll be fine. I wanna add some Skin and model in my map to make it more funny. In same time how you can edit the spell, skill ... i got TFT but i cant do a lot of skill i saw in other map i would like to be able to do it .... thx to take time to answer me :bgrun: emote_sweat ://// |

How do I put the mdx into gmax? Do I have to go to load script? |

ok 1) get the script if you not have it i attach it 2) Put the scrip in Gmax/scripts folder 3) Go to MaxScripts in Gmax and run the script 4) Just pick the new option on the list under max script then just find the mdx select it and WOOLLAA |

@ Silvermus: For editing the skin you can use whatever paintprogram you wish. The skinning forum is a lot better place to ask such things. If you only wish to edit the skin, and not the model, then you've gotten way out of hand asking in the modelling forum ;) @ SS3Goku: Run script is exactly what you need to do. Run MDX Import, then go to the Utilities panel, press MAXScript, then select MDX Import. The rest should be quite easy. EDIT: Seems like Maaby got before me. |

Elaborate means that you should explain a bit more just exactly what's wrong. "I am still having trouble" isn't really easy to understand what kind of problem you have ;) Silversuns, after you've ran the script go to the utilities panel (The panel that has a hammer as an icon). In the list that you'll find there there will be the Import MDX script. Select it, and there should pop up some options on how to import a model. |

I can't seem to find this "import mdx" thing. |
