can this be done by editing the mdl file?

i want to remove the claws from the ghoul model but there is no skin for them to alpha out, can these be removed from the mdl file or does this require a proper model edit?

I would recommend a proper model edit, but I am not sure if it can or cannot be done in the MDL.
