spell breaker and warder alpha problems

has anyone attempted to alpha out either the spell breaker's or the warden's ears? i've made several attempts on both, and come up pretty empty handed. in fact, setting the entire alpha channel black only removed a few small areas on the spell breaker, and barely anything from the warden.

at first, i thought that it might have been something with the new frozen throne models; however, i remembered that i've worked on the mountain giant and alphaed out stuff just fine.

any help is greatly appreciated.

:)

Well i might belive that it is the elves that are strange.

Because you cant alpa out the ears on the Spellbreaker(elf)
Warden(elf), Demon hunter (elf), (old Warden) Assassin (elf).
So i dont really know whats wrong.

Maybe blizzard disabled alphaing on elves.
Why? I dont really know. I havent tried this myself so if you just keep on posting and trying, you might just one day be there with alphaed elves.

I've used alpha layers on the demon hunter. Works perfectly.

yep. i've also had no problems with the old units from reign of chaos.. here's so more info:

no problems with alpha: demon hunter, archer, blademaster, sylvanus ( the old model, not the dark ranger ), druid of the talon, mountain giant.

skins that alpha has not worked on: warden, spell breaker.

those are the only two units that i've ever really had skinning problems with.. i dunno.. the gods are against me on this one.. heheheh..

You can fix this by editing the materials section of the mdl file, but it requires a little bit of knowledge about mdl editing. There is a tutorial over in the models forum though. It's extremely easy once you figure it out.
