Did anyone knew that some models such as the raider, kodobeast and someothers look weird? i am wondering if anyone made improved/polished/tweaked versions of the existing models please inform me tnx. oh and the reason why i say they look weird is that (like the raider for example, the rider looks like he has weird leg problems if you look front and the kodo's rider has small forearms) pls inform me anything about things like this
tnx.

I think what you mean is the models suck. All models in warcraft are cartoony and rediculously disproportional. This is due to blizzard's lazyness, since i KNOW they can make better models than that crap.

or maybe warcraft was some sort of sick joke

Uhh... Blizzard made it that way so you wouldn't lag like heck...

Don't start trolling. I don't care if its your opinion or not, if you feel you have a better way of "improving" Blizzard's models while still making the game playable on Bnet then do so. Otherwise just put up with it like everyone else, or play another game. If you really do question the talent involved then just look at the World of Warcraft models, which are basically what the War3 models would look like if they had the poly limit and texture size to allow them to make units what they're supposed to look like.

Blizzard has a fairly strict poly count to follow. Most of the models aren't very high poly, which means a lot of the detail would be lost. I'm sure they could go higher poly without lagging out players, but they try to optimize the best they can. Texture size is also a big issue. With the pure number of units in the game, you have to keep texture sizes small or else your video cards would be choking everytime you play a Tower Defense map or Hero Siege, where people use more than the amount of needed units on screen at a time.

The proportions are exaggerated not only for the "cartoonyness" of it all, but so you can actually see the unit and tell what it is from the camera view. Seriously, try importing a realistic looking model (with similar polycount) into Warcraft 3 and look at it in game compared to a Warcraft model. They would look like sticks.

As for textures, working with 256X256 maps for a whole character isn't easy. Sure they could probably pack much more detail for some units, but the fact is from the camera view you probably won't even be able to see it and you'd be wasting time making a super detailed texture map that only 2% of the people who play the game will ever care about. And consider that when it comes to a Blizzard game, more than enough people complain about release dates while on the other hand people want superb quality. Well the more quality you want the longer it will take to come out, and Warcraft 3 DOES have deadlines.

There are about 3300 models in Warcraft 3 (including TFT I think) and all of them of are fairly high quality considering the limitations they have. If you think you can do even 4 high quality textures in a months time then I'll start to respect your opinion.

All of the Warcraft games are exaggerated and cartoony. It's just the style.
