I dont see too many maps posted here, so Im not sure if this is the appropriate forum, however, I am generally curious what you guys think of my first mapping effort. I have also submitted it for hosting on maps.warcraftiii.net, with a full description, so you should see it there whenever they get around to updating the site. This game attempts to combine the state craft of the boardgame by the same name with the psuedo-realistic medieval units and technology progression seen in Age of Empires, Rise of Nations, etc. You take control of one of nine unique European nations during the "peak" of the Dark Ages (that is, when Europe was little more than bands of tribal warlords wielding fledgling, undisciplined armies) and lead it to the Age of Imperialism and victory. Kudos goes out to Cookie for the Cannon model, and Kefka(SR) for the map of Europe. Questions, comments, suggestions? |

Copying trigger...maps...terrain, whatever, isn't pretty... UNLESS u got permision, and give credit to the people who did the work for you... :) Not the best place to post this map.... ouch |

see, the great thing about this community is its all open source. by virtue of the fine print we all agree to every time we sign into that world editor. you cannot copyright or profit off any of the work you do in the editor. this means that its ok for kefka to rip off of lews by using his idea (intellectual property). and it means that ismokeweed can rip off of whoever the hell holds lotr license. etc etc if you dont like it, dont open the world editor. if blizzard intended for it be any other way, theyd allow you to protect your maps the same way they protect their work. i gave credit where it was do. |

I know its legal, but its still wrong. People (unless their evil retard gremlins like yourself) don't like CPers who take without getting permission. You should be ashamed of yourself if because of a licence agreement you think its alright to steal other peoples work. |

Also, how do you know that kefka used Blizzard's WE for his map? Zepir's and other 'home-made' ones don't adhere to normal licencing restrictions. So you could well be breaking the law. |

U know, copyright has nothing at all to do with it, just common sence and some people skills. If someone does a piece of work, it is his work...and you can't just take it :) If u gave credits, good. If not, Shame. Still, u should have asked, THEN given credits. If he said no: MAKE YOUR OWN TERRAIN! btw, most maps will be protected from now on, how will u manage to make maps? :P |

Uh huh. So using a 3rd party program to access and edit a copyrighted work (in this case Warcraft III WE) without the permission of the author (in this case Blizzard) is mitigating for kefka? And makaes him somehow less bound by the TOS? Give me a friggin break, the only law im breaking here is civil, not criminal, for calling you an ignorant moron (thatd be slander, care to sue?). And Zachary.... for being the least obnoxious poster ive run into in my short time on these forums, you have my appreciation. Maybe I shoulda asked for his permission. But, I didnt (I had and have no idea who this guy was...). And maybe that was a mistake. BUT, as for the map protection, where theres a will theres a way. The hard way would suggest I learn how to terrain (Im practiceing). The easy way would suggest using unproteQtor. Is anyone gonna actually take a look at the damn map btw? |
