Making spell use custom buff

ok, how do i go make it so that my custom spell will use my custom buff?

edit Units\<the race that the spell is based off of>abilityFunc.txt
and Units\<the race that the spell is based off of>abilitystrings.txt

example:
Units\humanabilityFunc.txt
