Er... that depends. What program are you using if not Paint Shop Pro? Actually, I think most of us here recommend Photoshop over Paint Shop Pro, especially since PSP 8 has some major issues with alpha channels that make editing skins a pain in the arse of unparalelled quality. Of course, so does Photoshop 7, but they fixed their bug in the 7.01 update or the TGA Import Plugin update for 7.0. But anyway... er, if you could be a little more specific about what you would use if not PSP or what exactly you want someone to put alpha channels on, I'm sure we'd all be much obliged. |

Hezza, all your post a mystery to me. Try to formulate everything a bit clearer. Offence intended: 0,001% |

sorry bout that i was in a rush. Anyways: I cant use PSP beacuse i downloaded and installed it god knows when, and my 60 days are up (anyone know what i edit in the registry). I have IfranView and XnView. |

Er, well... the catch is I don't think you can. XnView is just a viewer/converter, and Ifranview doesn't seem to have the option anywhere convenient. And as for Hezza, (who for once I did understand) I'm not even going to TOUCH something called MICROGRAX Picture Publisher, but it sounds like one of those half-arsed overgrown photo alblum programs they package with lots of digital cameras and new computers. To which all I can say is I am amazed you were able to create a workable load screen but I have no doubt it has no idea what an alpha channel is. So to both of you, my advice is: get another image editor. Although if you just need to add a totally opaque alpha channel to make an image appear correctly, I believe Warcraft III File Viewer 2.0 can add one to an alpha-less TGA automatically if you import it as 24-bit instead of 32-bit. (Because that's what a 24-bit TGA is... a TGA without alpha.) But if you want an actual alpha channel that makes some parts transparent or not, you'll need a better editor. Truth is, it's hard to do decent WC3 image editing with only free editors. Which means either you shell out for a professional image editor or you *cough* make one free. Not that I condone stealing programs in any way, shape, or form. You might also see, if you're a student, whether your local university can give you a student rate, which is usually significantly lower. That's what I did for Photoshop, anyway. And to answer your other question, no, I do not know what to edit in the registry for PSP. I recommend Photoshop anyway. There are more tutorials for it out there since more WC3C-ers use it and its latest version isn't a royal pain about alpha channels. Conversely, depending on how difficult the alpha channel you want is, it couldn't hurt to post your image here and ask if some kind soul would add an alpha channel for you. Heck, I'm no artist, but so long as you don't want anything beyond my moderate skill level I'm willing to give it a try. |
