I downloaded the map protector from the tools section. I unzipped it and read the instructions. Says to move the .ocx files to the windows/system dir. I did this, but then the program didn't work. I moved the files back, and the program worked and I ran it on one of my files. But it didn't seem to do anything. Just seemed to make a copy. How does this program work? And does anyone know of a good way to protect your files. I don't mind people looking at my code, I just don't want them modifying it and claiming it is their own work or using it to cheat on the map and then going online and just claiming it is a new version of the map. TIA. |

Download Zepir's Map Editor. It has a built in map protector that's better and more user friendly. |

Maybe I'm not doing it right, but the protection doesn't seem to keep someone from opening the map in the regular map editor.*The one that blizzard gives you* Plus, I've noticed that the map size doubles. I went from 150kb to 300kb. If I'm doing something wrong, please let me know. Otherwise, could there be another possible way to protect the map. |

Zepirs level 3 deletes files instead of replacing them with blank versions. So it just makes 7 million regions for every square of land. Anyway my map protector is beter and probably a lot easier to use. just run it choose where mpq2k is located (sugested C:\mpq2k\mpq2k.exe) choose the map then choose the output file (the map it will produce.) Then open up the output file. If it didn't work go into dos and run the temp.bat that is generated and tell me the error that it says if its says nothing them make sure your map has triggers other then melee intilization. Also make sure its NOT In your warcraft III directory. |

Guest | Lol if you can't figure out how to use weaaddar's map protector, then there is no way you could be smart enough to make any map worth protecting. |

Ok, maybe I'm just confused...I did all that you said, and it ran and created a second file. Should I still be able to open/modify/etc the map in the map editor? In other words, how do you know the map is protected? As for Ankaa, you may be right. Map may suck, but then, it is my first attempt and since I did put a lot of hard work into it, I'd rather protect it if possible. But you'll just have to check it out for yourself. |
