Flying Height Changes

I need to know exactly what the "rate" part of the change unit flying height action is. Im making a section of my cinematic where the unit will fall off of a cliff. I have the height set to very high then I have a trigger which every .03 seconds moves the unit back 5, now all I need is to make fall. So clearly I need to know the rate field, I.E. is that how many seconds it takes or points a second or what?
