I've made this thread for anyone who likes to make and design terrain to be found by cinematic directors or just to show their terrain. And because there's not a "Terrain" Forum here. This is not just for me, anyone can post here. Also, I've decided to just make little pictures of terrain that I've designed instead of working on cinematics or anything. Postcard-like, sort of. Anyway, if you have any cool terrain pics from your cinematics, or just made some in WE, you can post them here and other people can comment on them. So here's the pic I'll announce first. I've got a little bit of work to do on it b4 it's to my liking. Anyway, here it is - Feel free to comment and enjoy everyone! |

WOW! Awesome work! 0_o I thought of the same thing some time ago, but hadn't done it till now! You've done it like in my imagination! I would say that if you have some more terrain-ideas with a "WOW"0_o -effect you would be perfect for a cinematic! @ some cinematicmanias: if you are searching for a new member for terraining:[)ark/-\ngel is perfect for this! Keep going man! |

Well, like I said before, I'm not really advertising myself to cinematic directors. That's what other terrainers can do. Anyway, I had worked on a cinematic project before, however the director completely vanished from the forums. To Oerst: It's not for any project, I'm just making little pics. Here's a more detailed one of the forest. Hope you like the grass. :P |

i'd submit my depressing terrain but it is failling in awe to yours... How about with each new terrain submitted any tricks or special things you did to your terrain could be explained so as to give others less talented as yourself *i've had war3 and i've worked on terrain sense i bought the game first week* If someone has any ideas i'll make a terrain for that. * I'm not to good at creating settings* |

Sure, I like helping people get their roots settled. I'll tell you how I make all my scenery! (Yes, I'm just that nice! :D) Well, most of what I did is pretty simple. For the grass and weeds, I just took the shrub model and shrunk it really small. Same thing for the grass, except I used River Rushes and had to make them more green. Trees are no problem. The hardest part for this was the bridge. I had to line them up, then angle them (So that it would look more like a rope bridge, I know I failed ;) ) I also made a little rope that you can see if you look closely at the pictures. (Believe it or not, I made the rope from a fence model!) The biggest thing here, know how to use the Ctrl commands. Ctrl + Pg Up moves a doodad up in elevation, Ctrl + Pg Down moves it downwards. Ctrl + a number on the number pad moves the doodad (Ignoring collision, except for the center of the doodad.) Also try experimenting with different models at various sizes, you can go crazy with it and find some pretty good results! |

Heres a really old screenshot. Made using the regular world editor, RoC. |

Heres my attempt. I'm wondering what to put in the foreground. It feels a little bare. Edit: i noticed its a little dark... I don't know what to fix so it doesn't do that? the actual picture itself is much brighter like you can actually see the lich.... owell. |

It's good to see some people using this thread! Great job on the terrain guys! Toxicseaweed: Try fiddling with the lighting effects under Map Options. Some areas tend to be brighter than others. Another thing to try is to put light auras down, but so that no space is without light (so it all looks even). If you have UMSWE 4, get one of the lights there. If you don't, then get it, because it has a great advantage over the regular editor. Oh yes, on the far left, you'll see that there's a block of ice sticking out of the ground. Use Ctrl + Pg Dwn to lower it. Beam: Good job. I'm assuming it's a winding river through a mountain valley? Was it attached to a cinematic or game? |
