Ok...we all know that when you do just about anything to your map it changes all the stats of the units back to the old stuff. But I want to have my customs units go against the "updated" ones. N E way...I searched all over the web for the answer for days and only found this site -- http://www.elilz.com/unitsfaq.php -- with an "answer."

But they gave the answer in a way that some average person like myself wouldn't fully get. So 1st, may I ask, does it really works, cause I assume if it did that I would of found the info on many other sites...and second... :| could someone just break it down just alittle further for me...or better yet, it would be a great ideal for a tutorial. Thanks in advance.

Q: Why are the base stats of my units not the same as the regular game?
A: Non-melee maps use the old data (Custom_V#) in order to keep additional balance changes from messing up completed custom maps (the built-in campaign levels are a notable example). Currently the editor always displays the custom data, but if the map is melee it will use the latest patch data in the game.

Eventually Blizzard will let us choose which data set to use on a map-specific basis. In the meantime, one way to work around it would be to extract all of the latest patch data files (Units and UI folder), and import them under the Custom_V# (0 or 1 depending on RoC or TFT) folder.

How is that hard to understand, find those files in the *patch.mpq and extract them into the folders that he named.

well one thing i forgot to say is when I open the war3patch.mpq, all the files are titled as unknown. And that is where i'm suppose to get the files from, right? So how I know what to get out of there if they are all called unknown. And I did download the 1.12 patch
