What do you want in a Defence map?

I am planning to make "some kind" of a defence map soon but I wanted some feedback. Waht do you all want/like in a defence?

Tower defence would be the most popular I guess.

There are too many defence maps, why not try an offense map? There is about 1:100 ratio of offense to defense maps.

By defence maps I mean anything where you "defend" Lurker D is a defence, TD is a defence, castle D is a difence. As for an offensive map, well I kinda just made one! my Sea Warfare map is kinda an offence, here il attach it if you wanna see. I just want to make a defence that stands out among all the crap and unorigonal ideas.

Um, doesn't the fact that there are already thousands of crappy defense maps out there already smack of unoriginal ideas? It doesn't matter how wonderful your defense map's going to be, it's still a "D" map, and they've been done to death.

Do something novel that the braindead feebs can try to emulate, not vice versa.

errr... why do I always forget to attach? anyways here it is. SOmething ive learned, keep the help short and to the point, that way they wont look at it and say " I dont want to read all that!!!"

It might still be a "D" map, but if its a completely difffernt style than anything anyones ever done, it is still origonal. All of the TD maps out now are basicly the same things with differnt towers/tracks. The things im poking at are "How" you defend "What" you defend and "What" attacks it. I want to be origonal in those areas, not just what you use to defend, as that Has been done to death, over and over and over....

EDIT: also, why do somthing that none would ever play? half the time when you make something COMPLETELY alien to what anyone has ever played, the 99.99% retared Bnet population will never play it. You half to build off familar concepts, and gradulay go to an alein idea, but by the time you get thier, it no longer seems that way.

I'd leave the status quo of Bnet out of your decision process -- dodge the Priests evolved into the god awful Escape from Weed World, if that gives you ANY impression of what terrible things the masses will play. Hell, they'll play anything if they'll play Weed World over and over and over.

Make what you want to play, of course -- even my tutting of "Oh, but it's not original" doesn't mean I don't enjoy a well thought out D map.

Thats not exactly what I meant by evolve, weed world and doge the preiss are essentually the same thing with deffernt units/terrain. But anyways, if you guys like castle defence, what do you want in a castle defence? thats what im asking.

Ok, here's an IDEA (!)

A Simultaneous Tower Offense/Defense map. 2 Players, vs.

Placing the towers is much easier than in most; you can build anywhere at any time, without having to move your workers there.

But MEANWHILE, you have to be working hard on the techtree, and not only to improve your towers, but to improve the next wave of units you'll be sending at your opponent.

I honestly don't know if it's been done yet, but I guess there's a good chance it has... if so... don't hate me! emote_sweat

I just got the best idea in the world while at the dentist(yes, the dentists, yes I know thats sad)

Two Kingdoms/ Castle wars

THe game is played in 3 repeating phases

Contruction/Traning Phase- this is where you buy defenders/ attackers and maybe repair gates and such.

Tactical Phase- This is where you place your defenders and plan your attack. Each attacker bought stands for 10 smaller units. You pick 1 primary route, and 2 secondary routes for your attack, out of the 4(or possibly more) avalable. The primary rout will recieve 6 units while each secondary will recieve 2.

Action Phase- This is where your plan takes action and each castle is sieged. Good intell will result in a well placed attack, where your primary rout is scarcly defended.

How does that sound?

i agree footman wars you can get a level 7 tauren chieftan and win with his shockwave while a potm is casting starfall and killing you from the other side of the map :nono:
