dex works for GMax, but since it's in its beta stages I'm not aloud to post a link for it. I'm sure you could find it though, it wasn't hard for me. |

yeah i'm not too fond of these max scripts sofar...however its all we gotta work with at the moment...btw...not to discredit ne1's work, but exactly why was there an import feature and no export feature...doesnt that make the whole script worthless? edit a model...just to edit it? not use it? (speaking for gmax of course...too lazy/precacious (sp) to download 3dsmax...so i'm trying to make do with freeware...)...doesnt look good sofar... |

Ok, that is the file you exported. Mdl files are just a bunch of letters and numbers. What you need to do is create a .txt file, rename it [your model's name].mdl, and copy everything exept "export sucessful" from the listener and paste it in your txt file. Then you take the [your model's name].mdl file and use a file converter (i'll post a link to it in a sec) to change the .mdl to a .mdx (after you have done any editing you need to in the mdl) and then import the .mdx into your map (if you have tft. If not, buy it) with the import manager in the world editor. Here's the link to the file converter: FILE CONVERTER |

thank you for the help only problem im having now is in notepad it wont save to mdl is pissin me off lol EDIT: ha just as i posted this i got it to save as mdl lol but having a problem with the file converter when i go to convert it says "Error reading modle file: Error (line 1): unexpected token "1/2" before the "1/2" there is some sideways triangle thing do i have to put in all the animation information? all im doing is testing on a dreadlord without editing him and do i have to select all the objects in order from least to greatiest? im not sure if all this stuff will effect it |

Check your mdl: make sure there isn't a "exported sucessfully" at the botom of it. this will screw up the file converter and it won't work in wcIII. As for the animation, you should at least have a Stand animation. Also, make sure you have at least 1 bone in the model. Any help? |

eh that didnt help too much but ill just screw around with it some and when i try to select all it wont let me so i gotta paste in sections :( but i didnt have that line at the bottom i got rid of it so i dunno what im doing wrong |

here ill post the .mdl file, u can look and c if everything looks ok, this is without evan editing the modle, and when the dex window pops up i put stand animation but not sure if there is a way to put bones or anything |

I got it to work. You needed to remove the: "'DeX Version: 0.185m " "'DeX Version: 0.185m" from the top of the .mdl. Happy modeling! |
