About the concept art: (by Undertow) The Burnt Ancient is a horrid masterpiece of the scourge's Necromancers. By burning a living Ancient and performing dark, necromantic evokations, the Necromancers have learned to twist the will of the Ancients into the service of the Lich King. In undeath, the Ancients are wicked and terrible. They have been driven to madness by the torture of the Necromancers. And the horrible ache of their spirits can only be soothed by shedding the blood of the living. Burnt Ancient (Working Name) I have two takes on the Burnt Ancient. The first of which is to make it a kind of heavy infantry/support unit. Kind of like an Ancient Protector, but smaller and faster, designed for melee combat. The second, and the one I find more interesting is to make it a building. I modeled the whole thing after the Zerg Queen's ability to 'Infest Command Center' from StarCraft. Construction: To construct a Burnt Ancient, one must use the Necromancer's Create Burnt Ancient ability on a Tree of Life/Tree of Ages/Tree of Eternity, when the unit has 30% or less life. That unit is then converted into a Burnt Ancient under the creator's control. Unit's Produced: The Burnt Ancient creates Fury Wisps (another Working Name), which are little more than controllable fireballs. They travel quickly and have the KA-BOOM! ability. Other Unit Features: Burnt Ancients can still uproot and eat trees, and are relatively good at melee combat. They could have the Entangle ability, but that's to be decided. |

The contest is divided into 3 parts, first a concept art, second a model and at last a skin. This is modeling part of the contest. |

Hello, I'm the silly guy who won the Warlock Season over in the Concept Art forum. I'm honored that it's my design you all are trying to model. I'm just posting here to let you all know that I intend to make myself available as a resource to you. If you have any questions about the creature, or the conceptual artwork, please ask, it's why I'm here. I don't know if I'll post some sketches of the different perspectives of the unit. I've drawn them, but I don't want to limit your creativity by saying "This way is right." I mean, my job is done. It's now up to your creative instincts to come up with the next part. And, so far, I really like what I see. |

Can you post WIP works or not? Or is there some kind of level, like that you can post it if the mesh is completed, but not fully animated yet? Also, how many animations should it have? Also, what about voiceactors? I think they should have a shot at this too. But until I get confimation if I should post pictures or not, I'll just keep a small list right here: Currently: Animating Model ~ 100%. Rigging ~ 100%. Animating: 0%. I found a tutorial on how to use the Dex Exporter, which had alot of requirements which made me to restart many steps. |

ChoboMapper - Please remember that my drawing and unit description is concept only. There are innumerable ways to portray this creature. I could post some 'alternatives' to the design if you'd like. I'd like everyone to feel that they are not bound to the depiction I've provided. The idea is to, I believe, serve the idea of the unit, the Burnt Ancient, rather than strickly carry out the concept design. This doesn't mean the previous submissions are bad. They are each a specific individual take on the unit. And that's what I want. |
