Hello! Well, believe it or not, I'm still reorganizing my tools from RoC, getting rid of the absolete and bringing in the new for TFT. The only thing I have yet to be assured of is whether or not my old protector will still work on TFT maps, and if so, where I could get one that does. I used a protector called..."protector"...it used mpq2k and files placed in the system folder to protect maps. I don't know how it worked, but I know that it did. If possible, could you tell me if it still works with TFT maps? And, if it doesn't, could you tell me where I could find a new one that does work with TFT maps? Thx a bunch! :ggani: |

:D Well, thank you all very much! That Heavy Locker should come in very handy. Thank you for the link to the other protector, but, if people are able to unprotect it...I'd rather use something a bit harder to unprotect, you know what I mean? So, yeah, I'll get to learning how to use Heavy Locker right away! Thanks again! :ggani: |

I havent tryed this but i heard that you are able to protect the file then use heavy locker and it makes it harer to open. |

the compress % depends on map and heavy lockers harder 2 unprotect |

Blackdick himself once said that id could compress the map by 105%, but he might have beeen overdoing it... :D |

Yes, that was a bug in the compression calculation. It has been fixed long ago. Btw, it can get about 20% compression, depends on the map that is being compressed. Saving 10KB on a 100KB map is about 10% improvement, but saving the same 10K on a 1MB map is only 1% improvement. Quote:

:( I'm sorry, but...I'm not experienced enough to understand what Heavy Locker does exactly. I know it lessens the size of your map and has other options, including protecting it, which is what I need it for, but I have a few questions. Is there a way not to compress it? What is the significance of the obfuscate levels to the protection? Is it that the higher the level, the harder it is to unprotect it? Does the higher level have any risks? Are there risks to the compressing of my maps? And, finally, will I lose any data by compressing my maps? I know it's a lot of questions :( , but I'd be most grateful if you could help me out by answering as many as you can. Thank you very much. :gsmile: |

Just leave all the setting of it at default i beleive, it should be enough for what you want. I think that somethings are removed from the file, but unless you are heavily modifying the internal files of the map that proboly wont matter. Just check that the map works before you distriblute it. |

:D Thanks a lot, ObsidianTitan! Now I can finish up my work and know that it's 80% safe from being stolen and 30% smaller. :ggani: |

The higher the lvl is, the hard it is to unprotect the map. Quote:

BTW, the "preview only mode" will let anyone open the map on the WorldEditor, but the triggers will not show up. (They´re erased). With the "Full lock" lock mode, the map will not open on the WorldEditor at all. Also, when using the full lock mode, you can set those obfuscate levels, to make the JASS Script harder to read. Anyone with a simple MPQ extractor can open any map (protected or not) and read the JASS Script and try to rebuild the triggers by reading the JASS Code. The purpose of the Obfuscate thing is to make this JASS Script look messed up, to make things harder to map stealers. They can still read the code, but it will take much more work with an obfuscated script. |
