For everybody who never played WarCraft I.
I'm recreating it in WarCraft III

The project grew a little bigger than forseen and if there are any great map makers out there willing to help, it would be highly appreciated. For now I'm creting the upgrades, units and abilities as they were in the original WarCraft, this takes more time then I expected. If you want to help, contact me at [email protected]

this could be a good thing, the things I didn't like about war1 were the limit of selecting 4 units at a time, and the no right clicking thing, so this may be interesting.

Great job, accualy I like the chacge of no sound to sound, from other one player campaigns I played, The maps map looks like it didn;t take much effort but sound and cinematics made up for that.

in comparison, did the warcraft 1 maps really show that much effort compared to now? haha

Yes, I know the maps are quite simple, but as already said, the maps in warcraft I were quite simple. Now is my problem, should I build more complicated maps, with some subquests, maybe some creeps, different heights in terrain, etc. or should I stick to the original as much as possible.
The upgrades and abilities are working out fine, but I will make a few changes compared with the original.
You can also find a beta version of the first WarCraft I level on my site.
The modifications are almost done, but the further I get, the harder it gets to get it working properly, I'll keep you posted :)

keep it the same. there was no terrain height in the first, dont bother making any in this one. its a conversion, not a remake. u could make the enemy units more difficult etc.

acctually, in the original there were creeps:

Ogres (they only had 1 head in war1)
Brigand (bandit)
Slime.

then there were summoned units:

Scorpion
Spider
Skeleton
Water Elemental
Fire Elemental
Daemon

but some of those played to role of creeps at times as well.

I agree though, keep it as much the same as you can.

Yup, I know that there were some creeps, but these were only to be found in dungeons or caves. I did alter some units to resemble the original units, here is a little update:
Ogres (they have 2 heads now :))
Brigand (Indeed the bandit)
Slime (will be the sludgemonster)

Summoned:

Scorpion (now is the Forest Spider)
Spider (Swamp Spider)
Skeleton
Water Elemental
Fire Elemental (Think I'll make a new water elemental skin)
Daemon (Doomguard or Infernal, not sure yet, depends on way of summoning)

doom guards don't look too much like daemons to me. and infernals aren't even close.

Doomguards have horns, so did daemons
Doomguards have swords, so did daemons
Doomguards have wings, so did daemons
Looks pretty much the same to me :D
And I can't find a better match for Daemons than the Doomguard
The sludgemonster and Bandit SpearThrower are also not very like the original.

the only real difference between Baelrog and the Doom guard is its armored.. so if you must lose the armor or change to tauren skin and colour it

Uhm, I think Felhounds or Zerglings(Since neither were in War1 therefore they aren't needed now)shrunk would make great scorpions.. preferably Zerglings because they are more scorpionish, all together the zerglings and felhounds have the same skin, but modified, and felhounds attack slightly different, so it wouldn't matter which(Bloodlust scorpionO.o) you would like, but i really suggest you mod a zergling to be the scorpion.. Maybe I am wrong though because I never played war1 and dont know a thing about it or the scorpions graphics..


(Maybe import a scandit from starcraft??)
