Hi guys I'm nw at this but I am wondering if I should make my RPG. It takes place in China and you may be anything from a Peasant Theif to a Grand Samurai. Choose your weapons, armor, techniques and tactics to battle through tournaments. Kind of like a Rurorni Kenshin RPG but I dont know if I could have some help making this for WC3? Please give me some help! |

In my opinion, waaaay to overdone. The entire RPG genre is too-much used in Wc3. But if you want to, go ahead, and good luck. Why not make a really good RP? They're not played as much, but at least you'll know that your map's players will have intelligence. |

im all for it. RPGS are my favorite type of maps to play on WC3 Bnet. Ive made many of my own. My personal favorite being evolution worlds which i made 2 years ago. Fun map, bad triggers. Not even half the talent i have today. But it has a good feeling to it when u play it. |

I admit, I love a great RP, (also known as an RPG but with characters and story instead of just fighting) and it'd be great if you could work some RP elements like a good story and characters into your game. That and tournament RPGs are a little... overdone? Though I don't recall any set in ancient China... But whether you work in all kinds of character and story or just make a fighting RPG, I have a suggestion: Make a game about a peasant thief who works his way up to become a Shogun. Maybe by fighting in a tournament. But other than that, my only other advice is that you check your setting. Shoguns and Kenshin are Japanese, not Chinese. On the flipside, you could do a little research on ancient China and try to make an actual Ancient China tournament RPG.... that could be kind of neat. |

Whatever you do, DON'T make an RP. They get EXTREMELY boring after the first 30 minutes. |

So long as you avoid the curse of linear RPGs, you'll get the best of both worlds. Nobody really appreciates: "Go to town 1." "Welcome to Town 1! We have beasts that need killed." "Thank you for killing those beasts. The way is open to Town 2!" Put some thought into a wide open area and quests that are optional. A storyline is, naturally, crucial, but that shouldn't be the ONLY thing going on in the world. Also, the more randomly set up, the better it is for replay value. |

To add on the point, there are lots of different RPGs you can do. Has anyone made a Pikmin-concept one? How about a different turn-based game? You can do lots of RPGs, but the most overdone is the linear. Try to avoid that. |

*cough* The Keys of Destiny *cough*... Although they changed the concept of turn-based a bit, but still, pretty good :D |
