Hey guys. I apologize if this has been answered already, but in all of my searching I couldn't find an importer that works with animations, just KMK's importer/exporter (which they say doesn't) and Rep's exporter which exports animations. Is it possible to overwrite a model's animations by doing them from scratch in 3DSM and then exporting them with Rep's program? Or is there another importer that works with animations? Thanks in advance for any assistance. |

I believe Jacinthe is a she ;) and her question was about an importer for 3d Studio Max 5 . @Jacinthe, unfortunately I haven't found any importer that works correctly yet, what I do is import the base mesh using mdlimport which allows me to at least delete parts of the mesh. One question though, have you ever modeled in 3D? edit: my way unfortunenatly requires a lot of mdl editing though but its better than nothing i suppose. |

All I've done is edit WC3 models, never created anything from scratch (or that's what I would be doing, rather than importing/editing). Thank you for the information. I wasn't looking to delete much, really; what I'm most interested in doing is shifting some things around, altering the animations, and err "unwrapping" it - whatever it takes to adjust how the skin wraps around the model. If that fails, I will have to see about learning to 3D model from nothing. =) Quite a challenge for my free time. To Mighty: I need a Maxscript that specifically works with WC3 models (for Milkshape I imported .objs, and 3DS seems to import .mdls and .mdxs). I'll take a look at that site to see what they have, but I'm not sure they would have that sort of thing there. |

my mdl importer will allow you to import in models with perfect geometry, and the bones have limited aniamtion, atm, i am rewriting parts of the animation and bone assigning code, so once the next version is released, anaimtions will work, nd hopefully particle emmiteers and materials as well |
