How do I make a tile look like water but act like land?

I'm making a "water" map and want the ships to be able to move across the water but don't want them to fly.

In other words how do I get non-flying units to be able to move on water?

Use shallow water. Units can walk in it.

the above method will work as long as you dont mind ground units being able to follow the ships.

If you use height to lower it down as far as it can go before land units cant stand there (place a unit and lower untill it disapears, then undo), it looks almost exactly like deep water.

You can also edit the pathing map with an enhanced editor (forgot which), which would let you use actual deep water.

u could also leave ships as flying units, but using regions to stop them from leaving the water.......

as long as ur water is in square chunks eheh

or you might want to assign the ship doodad to a unit (below the surface) as a special effect, using Doodads\Northrend\Water\Battleship\Battleship.mdx

(if you order the unit to move somewhere, the ship doodad will move with it)

I believe some units can be placed in deep water, like the orc juggernaut (without floating) so you can assign the 'special effect' to such a unit.

Teup's idea would probaly work the best. i didnt know you could use unit models for special effects :D

I don't think you'll be able to select or move a unit that's under deep water, even if there is a special effect applied to it.
