:bgrun: I just had a good idea (I thought it was cool anyway), but I can't do it unless I know the model path for water...you know...like...ocean...water?...anyway, yeah...if someone could tell me the path for the water model (is there a water model?) I'd be very grateful. :D |

Doesn't exist. You can't use terrain as models. But, you could use the Rising Water destructable. With the right animation played, it would give the same effect. |

I wanted to know if I could change the model(err...whatever) of the water to be something else. Is that even possible? emote_confused |

What do you need to change? Color? Other than that I can't think of anything you'd need to change. If it is in fact color, there's an option for it somwhere in the WE |

://// I found the water...it's in ReplaceableTextures...it's like the biggest .gif file I've ever seen. emote_sweat How would I go about replacing all of that with my desired effect? emote_confused :( |

By skinning it. You'll need to edit it's alpha channels to change each variation. |

How do you skin a .blp? I thought I could just replace it with a special effect for example, that would in essence replace the ocean and give it a different feel (like maybe clouds? :ggani: ), but now it seems to be getting complicated. :( |

That wouldn't work. You know how the patterns on the water surface change continually? That is the variations stored in the Alpha Channels. Other images won't have enough/correct alpha channels. To skin a .BLP you'll need to convert it to a .tga file using War 3 Viewer or Image Extractor. Then, you'll need a high end image editor for alpha channel editing. Do it in the same way you would skins, (there are tutorials), then save, convert to .blp, and import with the correct path. Voila! You have a different water effect. |

Um...but how would I get a special effect (which is a model) to retain it's effect in .blp form? Wouldn't I have to do that to each individual water.blp? And, lastly, if anything, wouldn't that just make it turn the water into a still picture of something?:bgrun: |

Water isn't an SFX. It is made in the same way as an animated GIF. Variations stored in the Alpha Channels are played randomly, with transparency to give extra effect. If you alter every alpha channel, then it will give the same moving effect of standard water. but, make sure each image is not too different otherwise it will look wierd. |

Here's what I pretty much wanted to do...except replacing all of the water with that effect...oh well...Gotta settle with what I've got. Thx, anyway, though. :D ![]() |
