Help with photshop or psp8

How do i convert just a specific area to greyscale, instead of the whole image? I don't care which program because i use one for skinning and for alphaing so i have them both

For Photoshop:

1.Select the Area
2a. Press CTRL+SHIFT+U
2b. (Menu Version) Go to Image->Adjust->Desaturate
