I think that whenever you attach files, you should put them, with a readme, in a folder before sending them. |

Well, some people are rather new to the whole site in particular, so when they are asked to put up a download (I got asked how to do that recently), they just take the file, and ship it. Personally, I prefer a readme, and a file, but the utmost thing that usually helps a download is making it a zip file. This especially helps when shipping large maps, which can take some time on slower computers. To all new people reading this, when you "attach" a file, or put one up for download, if you can, make it as user-friendly as possible. Also, in case you don't know how, a zip file can be made simply by right-clicking on the file in question, and using the "send-to" option to send it to a "cempressed-zip" file. This makes the file smaller by, what a surprise, compressing it! It shortens downloads by at least 50%, if not more, so it's encouraged by many... |

Excellent point, Harlequin. Are you a moderater? I will check later. Anyway, so I personally think that: It should be made a rule that you either put anything to download in a folder, compressed by Zip or the Mac way (I have Windows ME) or, if you can't, at least warn people that it's big. |
