Here are some screens for my upcoming map, Island Wars! Some delicious terrain with doodads. When in-game you can hear those fountains pouring water. No doodads here yet... but it shows off a lot about what my map will be about... Capturing areas! Also note I have random tips, and I show off one of my unit abilities, Dark Army (increases # of and quality of skeletons per level). The map creation screen. Finally got that custom preview image to work! The sandy, tropical environment is perfect for fighting over these areas, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory meets Warcraft 3 basically. Also the more areas you capture different units will start spawning from your base, a la zone control :) This is the first time I'm showing it off, and it's not near being done... but what are your first impressions? |

You REALLY need to use the raise/lower tool, it is way to flat and those screens show absolutely nothing but flat water and a few floating doodads. |

Hmm who know's. He's not finished yet and he may go for the teple texture and seeing hill's with temple texture's is just weird. But for the water maybe add few bumbs smoothed out and w/e else you think will make the map appealing. |

Agreed, I've whipped out my raise/lower terrain tool and have liberally applied many bumps, plateaus and dips. |

I'd say the first screenshot looks alright, but I think the second one is way too plain. And as mentioned before in this topic, you should add some height variation to make it look a bit more... realistic. Other than that, good job so far. By the way, what exactly is the map about...? |

I like your preview screen, it looks quite cool. But if you gonna make it even better you need to change the skins of all your heroes!:D |

I already got someone from wc3campaigns, FlamesForZulgin, who says he can make some skins/models :) If you have a model you would like to make/contribute just send it my way. ( [email protected] ) I have looked at all the models available on the net, and I want at least eight totally unique ones. The other 8 I will be using rather... unconventional heroes like the Hydra for my Hydra Lord and a Kobold for my Geomancer. The second shot looks plain because I haven't added any doodads to it yet. It's going to have an orc camp feel to it. On a separate note, does anyone know how to create a custom aura skill? |
