I think i will begin whit a simple Hello. This i my first post on WC3C, but i have been a members for some time (mostly so that I would be able to see the attachments people made to their posts) And now on to the real reason i posted : I'm getting quite interested in voice acting. The only experience i have in voice acting is when i have messed around whit GoldWave, trying to make my voice sound like some of the units in TFT and RoC... I attach a sound file whit me trying to do a Satyr voice. The only editing i have done on it is trying to remove some anoying background sounds... please tell me what you think When i feel like it i might try to do some other voices... |

Hi there. Welcome to WC3C's sound forum! Please check out the top two threads for tutorials on voice acting as well as seeing who is available (And if you'd like to be listed there too). There are two links to tutorials of mine which I believe you could use. As for your sample ... it's pretty great. Not perfect, but much better than the first samples I hear off most starting actors. The voice is very suitably rough, but is spoken too fast and it seems you did so because it was the only way of doing the voice... (i.e. You couldn't hold that rough voice for long and so rushed your recordings) ... am I right? With Cool Edit and Sound Forge, I can improve the sound to a satisfactory level (Normalise it correctly and remove the background noise - easy!), which means your mic is good enough to continue as a VA in my opinion. :) |

Hey, you dont have a bad voice! Would you be able to voice act a couple of lines for my campaign as a Satyr? With Magics help, maybe he could make it more fierce (is it possible?) Anyway, if you're interested, PM me. |

Make it more fierce? No. That is purely down to the acting of the recorder. All I can do is clean it up and pitch it in this case. |

Magic : Thank you for you'r comments. And you'r right about that i couldn't hold a rough voice for long... BladeBezerker : Okey... I'll PM you right away... |

You're welcome. I suggest you do a few more examples of your voice. Accents, famous people, characters from movies, games and books - anything that shows what you can do. :) |

I will take your suggestions will be taken into consideration, Magic. It might take some time before I put up more voice examples, as i can only use the better of the two computers (which has the mic) for shorter times from todad and this week forth... But when I can i'll try and put up some other voice samples... |

Here's my attempt at a Ringwraith. Perhaps a bit too much echo, but I find it quite scary! :D |

Just simple editing in Cool Edit. After my normal clean-up editing (see my tutorial at the SA for what to do there with SoundForge and CoolEdit). 115 pitch, with two reverbs (tight and close I think). Easy. 8) |
