Ok, I've finished a small map that will show you how my idea for spell casting would work. I would like some feedback on how to make the idea better. It's pretty simple, you get the scroll of the spell, carry it (so you can only have 6 spells at a time). Then click on your target and type in the name of the spell. I have one little problem, I don't know where I can get my map hosted. Where should I go? I would prefer not to have to sign up for anything, but if I have to it's ok. BTW: How do you take a screenshot, so I don't have to upload a map everytime I make one for you guys to see? |

Press "Print screen" and then convert the .tga in your Warcraft III\screenshots directory to a .jpg and attach it. |

wait huh? why don't you just have it create those abilities for the unit then when the hero drops the item? remove the ability? or is it because you don't want abilities to be stacked ontop of eachother? |

The idea is, you have an item such as "Scroll of Fireball". As long as you carry it, you can type in "fireball" to cast fireball on the unit you currently have selected. EDIT: I read your post again. Oh I see what you mean. Well that just seems a bit too complicating for me to pull off. I just made it the same way you would make a cheat. Plus I think it would be good to make the user have to actually do something other than click on a button. |

no offense but that is a little tideous unless u arent going to be hackin n slashin up alot, my suggestion is just to make the scroll the spell but not dissappear when u use it, jus have a steady recharge but its ur map u do whu u think |

I can tell you, people will not like to have to type in the name of the spell every time they want to cast it, LiableSu5pect's idea is much better |

It's an original idea and all, but I think it'd be too much of a pain to implement, and for the player. I don't really wanna have to type in the name of the spell I want to use every time I want to use it... |

Well it really isn't that hard if you use copy/paste I can make an entirely new spell in 1 minute [new animation, new name and, new ability.] The thing I think will be hard would be posion. |

exactly, the best thing to do is make items with cooldowns that dont get used up. Or if you have enough skills to create dummy heroes to act like backpacks, that hold your spells, then when the spell is targeted, detect what unit its targeted on, and use a trigger spell...... but... if you dont know how to do things like that, then lets not go there :) |

So I guess I should just scrap this idea... Well thankyou for the input. EDIT: Anyway, I would still like to know where I could go to get my maps hosted. My website is on geocities so it dosen't accept those kind of files. |
